Absolutely "hysterical"!!! Of course the icing on the cake, is when Doris says (not in the least mean or jealous way), "Say, she is TALENTED!"

Also funny, when Doris Day does an imitation of her doing this dance later on in her apartment!!!

Clark was so embarrassed, hilarious!!! The song was funny too, really was. Gable still had it even tho he was older

The classroom scene(s) - let's not forget the classroom KISS - were brilliant, so good that I forgot how fabulous this one is, too, with the gorgeous Mamie Van Doren.

Doris Day, Clark Gable and Gig Young! What a great movie this was! As for PeterFirthfan, Clark Gable was not too old for this part!

The original job of gab;e's character was a reporter from the newspaper but with Gable's age, the switched it to editor and it works remarkably well.

This is a very good movie. I accidentally bought this thinking this was the movie with Audrey Meadows in an automat (A Touch of Mink) so today I watched my DVD realizing I never saw this movie before. Gable may be a bit old for teacher Day to urge to get into journalism but it really is extremely funny with bristling newsroom scene featuring many real journalists of the time.

You'll also find a very young Marion Ross (Mrs. Cunningham from Happy Days) in this movie. It wasn't until she spoke that i realize who it was.

Definitely a pleasant surprise. All three leads are great and the movie really is funny! It only drags slightly at the end and gets just a bit preachy as it attempts to infuse late 50's social commentary and the values that were such the rage back then. Not a great fan of Gable but check out his facial reactions and Doris is at the top of her game. After suffering through bombs like Houseboat and Young at Heart, I was delighted with this winner!!!

Houseboat was with Sophia Loren and not Doris Day

Gig Young was nominated by the Academy for best supporting actor (as Hugo). Most notable to me however is he shot his wife and himself to death in the 1970's.

film mitico.

You should buy the DVD so you can watch it properly on your television set. It's a movie worth rewatching every year or two. very entertaining.
