Sheepledawgs are sheeple that bark orders at other sheeple without verifiable knowledge or legal authority ... YOUR CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT TO NOT SAY THE PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE In 1943, the United States Supreme Court confirmed that students in public schools have a right to not participate in the Pledge of Allegiance. At the time, the West Virginia Board of Education required all public school teachers and students to salute the flag and recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Two students, Gathie and Marie Barnett, refused to participate, stating that it violated their personal beliefs and religion, and were expelled. They brought a suit, along with other students who had refused, which finally ended up at the US Supreme Court. In a 6-3 vote, the Court ruled that it is unconstitutional to compel students to salute the flag and recite the Pledge of Allegiance. Since then, the rights of students have been clarified further. Federal courts have decided that not only can you keep quiet during the pledge, but you can also sit down or raise your fist in protest, as long as you are not disrupting others. However, many teachers and school administrators either don’t understand the law or still feel that it is okay to force students to participate. In recent years, students have been suspended or had their grades lowered for not saying the pledge. Teachers have also intimidated students and even physically forced them into standing for the pledge. These attempts to punish or force students into saying the Pledge of Allegiance are illegal and unconstitutional. If I need to simp it down ... But pledging allegiance to a _flag_ is weird. Telling children to comply with a pledge before they're old enough to even comprehend the meaning of the words they say feels like indoctrination. They didn't choose to be born in America. They don't owe the US a damn thing, and certainly not undying allegiance. If, as an adult, you feel that strongly about your nation, if you're in a position where your loyalty to the state matters, and you wish to recite the pledge as an affirmation of your convictions, then by all means do so. Sitting during the pledge is extremely disrespectful and in my opinion it is like spitting on the graves of those who fought for equality, freedom and justice for all in America. As disrespectful as it is, some people do not see a problem with sitting. Let me be clear: one of the freedoms mentioned in “what our flag represents” above is the freedom to sit during the pledge. But that doesn’t mean you SHOULD sit, just because you CAN. Those who sit for the pledge seem to line up with those who believe they are changing the course of history through civil unrest, protesting false pretenses such as “systematic racism.” Those who sit for the pledge make themselves look like fools. It is a shame that people are taking their freedoms and privilege to live in the United States for granted. All countries have taken bad actions, no country is perfect, so your logic is just dumb. One thing I noticed is that it’s only the colored hair weirdo delinquents that sit during the pledge, that should tell you something. Those claims are ridiculously absurd and disproprtional. That whole situation with the pride flag happened one time whereas this other issue is a regular occurence. That incident was also a joke she told her student, it wasn't a serious comment, as the teacher was the one who was joking about it and telling the story. The kid knew it was a joke, it wasn't like he came forward. As far as I am concerned we shouldn't even have an American flag in every classroom. The propaganda kids learn in schools is all US propaganda but there is a segment of the population who wants people to believe it is more than that. Never in my life did I ever think I would see a bunch of uneducated folks manufacturing total nonsense like I saw with 'CRT'. The man who came up with the grift admits it is nonsense with no basis that he threw out with an intention to galvanize the base of Republican voters. Dude brags about how easy these goobers were to manipulate. Absolutely mindblowing made up crazy stuff. Many of the southern states still tell a false history of this country stemming from very early intentional policies that hid the most awful parts of our history and glorified and justified a lot of it. We got states who still can't get past the Confederate flag and claim it is a part of culture when it wasn't even the flag that represented the Confederates in the first place. Maybe if these schools could teach real history these parents would be aware of that.

Just as long as they don't disrupt anything while people are pledging it shouldn't be an issue. Many people have their reasons and should respect that as people respect others who decide to stand up even though they wont themselves. There are things in the pledge that I don't seem to agree with, I'm not saying I'm not proud to live in America , but is it really "justice for all"? To this day , especially at my school I see racism, sexism, the hatred towards people who are in the LGBTQ community. ME AS A MEXICAN, has been treated unfairly. The events that happen to most people that others seem to ignore. I stay down to silently protest and I will not stand until I see changes. Whether it's about respecting the pledge and the people who served for this country rather than beliefs, I'll still decide to stay down. I do thank the people who have gone out to fight, but standing for the pledge isn't for me. I used to stand for the pledge and I never understood why we had to do it or what it meant, but until recently, I actually payed attention to what it meant and it felt as if I was lying to myself, saying the pledge that I no longer believed in, or seemed to follow along with. Not only that, I'm an atheist. So whether if your reading this and are against this, I have my own rights, so therefore, I'm staying down, sitting silently.

Also, holding said individual instances of perceived harrasment as an all encompassing factor as to whether you'll pledge allegiance to the nation of your birth, and placate those instances as a total encompassing representation of all. Furthermore, neglecting racism isnt relegated to white vs everyone else, but has been problematic within and thought communities considered "minorities". God is against serving or pledging allegiance to OBJECTS, SYMBOLS, and IMAGES, in the likeness of anything in heaven above, or in the likeness of anything in the earth below [ Exodus 20:3-5 ] & [ Deuteronomy 4:15-19 ] God is against the pledge of allegiance to the flag and anthem, because idolatry is through the pledge of allegiance to the flag and anthem. When the US plays the anthem at the sound of music the US stand on their feet and worship the image of the star spangled of heaven with a song. The US is worshipping the image of the star spangled of heaven through the pledge of allegiance to the flag and anthem. Nobody in the video expressed anger at kids standing for the pledge. They simply said they didn’t feel it was fair to force anyone to. Also, a gay relationship isn’t harder to understand than a heterosexual one. It just means a man loves a man or a woman loves a woman instead of a woman loving a man or vice versa. Most kids can understand the latter from a young age, so the former shouldn’t be difficult at all.

I guess if they don't want one nation or don't believe in a God or don't want or believe in liberty and justice for all then they should just sit on their asses and be quiet. Unpopular opinion, but I would encourage my child to not stand for the pledge if I had one. First of all, what the hell does an elementary schooler have to pledge to the United States? Second of all, they don’t even understand the meaning of the words, if I had a child, I would encourage them not to, and I would explain why. If any teacher would want to bitch at me about it, I would explain my reasoning. I simply won’t allow my child to stand for the pledge until they know the meaning of every single word in it and then they can choose if they want to or not, but I don’t want them to think that they have to do it just because the teacher told me that we have to do it every morning. What kind of logic is that? Plus it’s like signing an agreement when you haven’t even read it. The worst part is that when something tragic like that happens like for example, signing an agreement that you’re not aware of fully, it’s usually vulnerable people that fall for it, and pledging allegiance to the flag of the United States every single morning as an elementary schooler is the equivalent of that.

Those who kneel for the flag have ZERO respect for our nation, military, police and first responders. No excuses whatsoever. Here's why we stand for the flag 1. We stand for the flag today, not to please ourselves but to honor those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. Jesus paid the price so we could have eternal life. 2. We stand for the flag not to focus on what divides us but on what unites us, which is being an American. 3. We stand for the flag not to pledge allegiance to a president, but to honor the reality that we have an elected president and not a lifetime king. 4. We stand not because of past or present pain caused by injustice, but to salute the principle of justice. 5. We stand for the flag not for our generation but to set an example for the next generation. And here's an interesting read: www.patheos.com/blogs/davidrupert/dear-christian-stand-flag-please-dont-worship/

Real life is that this country is likely going to give them a reality that looks as follows. The majority of these student will be poorer than their parents, and subsequently their grandparents. They will likely live paycheck to paycheck like the overwhelming majority of americans do now. Home ownership will likely be unobtainable (the biggest driver of wealth in this country), they will likely not be able to afford a new car for most of their lives, they will likely have to question whether or not they can afford children, healthcare will be hard to have access to, if they pursue higher education they will likely accrue massive amounts of debt, wealth inequality will continue to get worse, and this is all before we even look at what climate change will mean for them their entire lives. If you need to have a kid recite a pledge to this country every day for nearly 18 years for them to appreciate it, then this country is utterly failing. What is written on the board in this classroom also is absurd. It is saying that you owe the US because you are not a slave and that you should pledge your allegience to this flag that is further prepetuating the lived and future lived realities that you will and do suffer as a result of living in this country.

Justin little... Well you see as an honorably discharged vet,,, I don't feel offended in the least,,,we fought for the right to protest in America,,peacefully,,,, I think the real problem is,,most of the people complaining about people sitting or taking a knee or not standing up , Are the same people that really believe America is true blue everyone gets trea treated the same ,,no real racism to speak of..... Same thing conservatives/white folks thought about MLK and his peaceful approach to end racism with the marching and chanting.... At that time alot of white folks thought black people were treated fairly and had no need for the civil rights movement at all really...🤔

And Justin little bet that's the same thing the native Americans tell everyone. Because this is their land

Either freedom of speech exists or it does not,you cannot just pick and choose when it does and does not apply when it suits you.thats the definition of hypocrisy.

ditto, but when they are just elementary school students they dont even understand what the pledge of allegiance means exactly, so idk. but i think it’d be fine if they skip saying “one nation under God” for those who aren’t christian.

What if a person is religious and views the pledge as a form of idolatry? What if a person simply vies pledging alliegance to a piece of fabric as silly? I love living in the USA, but I just find the pledge to be silly and pointless. If we want kids to love their community, how about having them participate in community service that actually gets them active in the community?
