New subscriber here and you inspired me a lot watching those videos from Taiwan to Australia. Sir Sicat you can definitely surpass any challenges in your life for your new endeavor and until you land a permanent job. I'll keep watching your vlogs as an inspiration to secure a job overseas as well. Keep safe and may God bless you and Mama Mary!

Thank you so much for your encouragement! I rarely get messages like this. I love being in a supportive community. I’m sure you’ll go places too! Don’t confine yourself to what’s easy and comfortable. A place leads you to your next stop until you feel like you’re happy and settled. Good luck on your journey!

I am also a CRT in Victoria. I hope you have joined the Australian Teacher's Union. They are there for us if anything goes wrong and also advocate for improvements in our conditions and pay. Even things like ensuring we get our 30 minutes free of timetabled duties for a lunch break. Yes the students are challenging at the secondary level. Sadly, I have seen the respect for teachers decline enormously in the decades I have been teaching. All the best and I'm sure you will easily secure a contract for a position within a single school, that you enjoy. Schools really vary in terms of their ethos and the student body. Often some of the most difficult schools are actually the most pleasant to work in as the staff pull together. The teacher shortage is really biting, right across Australia!
@SirSicatАй бұрын
That’s new to me, but I’ll make sure to check out the union. It’s always comforting knowing we have protection and our rights are upheld here. Seeing the differences between schools convinced me that CRT work was a positive step. You’re spot on - every school is distinct, with its own curriculum, practices, and even culture setting it apart. My goal is to find a school that offers strong teacher support and sign a contract with them. A little cushioning for my beginning years would definitely help me go further. I’m very grateful for your insightful thoughts, Fiona. I hope we bump into each other during our shifts, or even just randomly. It’s great to get that perspective from someone with decades of industry experience here in Victoria!

5:05 depends on which school you are, generally students are great. if you haven’t already, familiarize yourself with the child protection legislations, you’re mandatory reporting obligation here in Victoria, privacy laws if you ever intend to film, and be mindful of physical contact if you’re a hug person.

Minsan lang ako mag-comment and mag-subscribe, but respect to you. I admire your determination and resilience. I've been in Melbourne since 2004 and has seen an influx of Filipino professionals moving here and thriving. My husband also moved here from Phils in 2017. I work as a secondary school CRT in Adelaide (we call it TRT here.) We have been told that legally we cannot teach certain ‘practical’ subjects, unless we are trained in that subject. For example, we cannot teach PE, cooking in Home Ec, tech studies, like woodwork or metal work, or do science experiments, unless we are trained in that area.
@SirSicat24 күн бұрын
I’ve experienced teaching PE in elementary, and I think here (I might be totally wrong), I am classified as a generalist which is why they could assign me to those subjects. I’m just glad to be learning new things now, and I’m always hoping that the students still get the quality education they deserve.

@ Yes, primary school teachers are expected to teach some sort of PE, or fitness.

New subscriber here. Thank you for sharing your new life in Melb. I hope that you will continue to do it. I am dreaming of migrating to AU. This kind of video keeps me inspired and gives me ideas of what it looks like living there. If it's not too much to ask, maybe you can also share how you lodge/get your 189 visa - the preparations and steps in doing it. A teacher like you will definitely be able to explain it clearly and it would be very helpful to many viewers like me. Salamat, Sir Sicat!
@SirSicatАй бұрын
Thanks for your support! If there's one thing that kept me going further and further, it's the belief that nothing is impossible. In my case, I processed my visa through the help of a migration agent. That definitely helped me ease up the process by a lot. Pwede rin mag DIY. If you go that route, I suggest you join this page: facebook.com/groups/703394130842529 You can use the search bar. There's a ton of resources there! If meron kang tanong na specific na hindi masagot doon, you can just ask here. Good luck!

Congratulations, Sir! I would like to know how you started with your Visa 189 application. Thank you!

Hello! I started with taking an IELTS test. Everything commences there. You’ll need a score of: 7 for reading and writing, and an 8 for listening and speaking. Even if you come and inquire specifics with an agent, they’d ask you to start with that.
