@@tonimcbride2205That’s the case with most students who aren’t doing well academically unfortunately. The only way around that is through lessons like this. My teachers never helped me or gave me this kind of advice, I really wish they did. High schoolers don’t understand that the second you turn 18, it’s a brutal and challenging world to conquer. I work in secondary schools (high schools) and it’s horrible when you allow yourself to be pushed to doing “the speech” where you give the class a talking to/life lesson, knowing full well that you’re making yourself look really stupid and later driving home you’ll cringe. I’ve started to use a strategy of using humour and being “less is more” to deescalate tension in a classroom. I feel sorry for these teachers because you know they’ll cringe later too.

A little backstory on the pomegranates lady: Apparently she is actually a sweet woman named Kellyanne. She actually is a nice person and is well liked by her students. I saw in one interview that she was only demonstrating, and that the video was taken out of context. However, she then pointed out that she really DOES hate pomegranates, as her only son was strangled and beaten to death several years before, by a pomegranate. She said she was half demonstrating, half screaming at the kid who brought her late sons murderer into the school. Eventually she called the police, and the school was put on lockdown and the pomegranate was escorted out in cuffs.
