Once the phosphate from ATP has broken off from the pump, where does it go? Is it used for energy within the cell? Does it connect back to the ATP that it was orginally connected to? Thanks guys

I'm pretty sure it connects back to any ADP (an ATP missing a phosphate) floating around, to make ATP and restart the cycle

This is very helpful in explaining active transport. However, there's a mistake in the ATP structure -- the adenosine is attached incorrectly to the sugar ribose -- not to the oxygen, but the carbon to the right in the ribose. Also, ATP has 3 parts -- the 3 phosphates, a ribose sugar (the pentagon in the middle), and adenosine as the nitrogenous base.

No, diffusion means that it follows the concentration gradient ( high to low). Active transport, it is the opposite. That is why people always say "against the concentration gradient". Meaning, that the transport of the molecules is always "Low to High". And when I say that I mean both molecules that you mean to transport. That is why we use ATP, an energy carrier molecule.
