TEACHING CALVES TO FEED THEMSELVES! | 1ST CALVES OF 2023

In todays video the calves have arrived to their new home on our farm! We take a look at the first calves arriving and how we get them started on the feeder. Unfortunately we didnt get off to a great start and the good old trusty blue tit feeder had to come out as our automatic calf feeder stopped working! Thankfully after some electronic replacements with help from the engineers we got it back up and running and the suckies are loving life on their free milk buffet!

Awesome video, this one brought back so many fond memories from my teens growing up on the farm, as soon as you mentioned Twix the calf, back in the day, mum used too call the calfs twix, Mars bounty and all sorts of out of the ordinary names, good old days hand rearing the calfs, it was quite funny when those calfs grew up,calling the cattle too the feeders, shouting Twix, Mars ect 😂 cattle be out all year round, tough work in the winter. Parents sold up and started farming up on the Orkneys island late 90s,i went into construction, keep up the good work, enjoy the video's so much ☺

Gotta love calf rearing season hope we get plenty of videos on the calves progress. Think u should weigh some to track weight gain across a few different breeds would be interesting to see. I'll guess 35ton of powder and 224000litres of milk produced.
