Your video saying "you got it" really helped me when I was feeling down about low bookings. Thank you for inspiring me!!!!

Thanks so much for sharing this with me! It just made my day:) I remember being discouraged at first about bookings and then a couple months in it was no problem. It really just takes time, patience and the willingness to do a little extra work at the first (intro video, book me options, opening more classes etc.) You Got This!!!!:)

I just did a mock class for an interview and when talking about hobbies and swimming I used a swimming cap, but it was too small for my head! I just wanted to use it to make the class more fun, but it slowed me down... I always try too hard..I wish I could just be fun but good instead of fun and clumsy! I liked your video! Your students love you!

This video especially with little Dorcas is something I soo needed earlier today! I had a student who was taking a demo class, also 3 years old and getting the little guy to respond was like... man oh man... trying. Didn't go so well, but saw this video later and it reminded me that there is so much more to still learn, especially with the little ones! Thank you for always bringing such real and relatable stories to the rest of us! Much peace and light!

@@NancyTaylor You are completely right! The one thing that can easily be forgotten is that when we're teaching, we're not showing up for ourselves, we're showing up for the kids, and it's part our responsibility to guide them as best we can. I often felt like I was been pulled through the mud by teachers when I was at school, desperately trying to understand them, but it didn't always pan out. So, I feel it's important to guide rather than lecture. Though not always easy when you're talking at yourself hahaha thanks for the comment Nancy! Your channel is a go to for me! Always appreciate your words of wisdom!

@NancyTaylor8 жыл бұрын
Bailey! Great question! I rarely finish trial classes because you are teaching them how to use their mouse, write on the whiteboard, repeat everything, etc. In the major course classes I keep an eye on the time and give about 1 min. per slide. As you teach more classes you will improve on your pacing a ton! Best of luck, and happy teaching!

Thanks for sharing Nancy! And Happy New Year! I enjoy your videos! I'm curious about the students who schedule with you daily. I don't open slots every day yet as I can't. Since each unit has 12 lessons, do students generally want to do a lesson each day or is that unusual? I have a handful of regulars. (I only open the required slots at this time.) I'm wondering if I'm messing up the possibilities of getting regulars by not opening slots daily. Thoughts?
@NancyTaylor8 жыл бұрын
Great question! The student that I see most books 3-5 classes a week & I've been his teacher since I started. I have always had daily slots opened, so I'm not sure if that changes the odds of acquiring regulars. I still will see 1 name every day or other that I haven't taught before, which is nice because you are given the opportunity to potentially add them to your regular list and it helps immensely in keeping your schedule full. I really do enjoy my regular students because we know each other so well! You will get more as you continue to teach!

Hi Nancy, love your videos! I'm about to interview with VIPkids on Monday. I have a random question for you, you mention your daughter is sleeping in the next room when you teach, does she ever wake up when you're teaching? I have a 2 month old and a 2 1/2 year old. I'm worried one of them will wake up while I'm teaching, though my husband will be able to take care of them...Thanks! Marny
@NancyTaylor8 жыл бұрын
Marny! Good luck tomorrow, & I'm so impressed with you starting back to teaching with a 2 month old! That is awesome. My daughter was 6 months old when I started and (before she had a set sleeping schedule) I would leave breaks in my classes (30 min) to go feed her and take care of her if she needed me. She joined some classes in the beginning as well when my hubby wasn't home. As you begin I would schedule less classes until you build a schedule that you feel comfortable and confident with, plus having your husband there to help will be awesome!!! Best of luck!

Great job! The 3 year old is soo cute! you must be a good teacher to have so much responce from a young age. How long do your classes last with this age? I have to start teaching online and feel that one hour online would be too much for this age?

I like your way of teaching so much! Can you give me some tips on how to do this with a group of kids. I need to find fun online ways of teaching due to the virus outbreak, so I'm looking for some pointers of teaching a group instead of individual classes. Any insights? Thanks ♥️

You need a computer, webcam, headset and good internet. You also need experience with the Common Core taught in America along with a bachelors and 1 year of teaching experience:)

This is specific for teaching for VIPKID. If you are teaching on your own you could use Zoom or Skype.

How do you manage to spend that much time on a warm up slide! 😱😱😱😱😱😱
@NancyTaylor8 жыл бұрын
Sometimes I spend more time than others! Sandy is a very fast student so if there is an interactive slide we may spend 1-4 minutes on it. I would not do that if I didn't know the student beforehand! Happy teaching!!!

Nice 👍 What app do you use?

I teach on VIPKid's platform! It is super user friendly & the curriculum is all done for you. You have to prep by reviewing objectives and teaching materials, but it such an awesome gig. Let me know if you have any questions! nancytaylor6262@gmail.com

I know this is old, but where do you get your puppets?? I look everywhere, including Amazon. I want hand puppets with mouths that open and close like your duck puppet :)
@NancyTaylor5 жыл бұрын
That was an old hand me down. I wish that they still made the mouths move in puppets. It is hard to come across them, but they pop up in the teaching/kid section at stores that I see. Wish I had a link for you. If all else fails sock puppets homemade style are in your future!:)

Do I have to be this happy the whole class when I teach 😱
@NancyTaylor4 жыл бұрын
Hahaha! I do not keep the highest of high energy throughout the entire lesson, and it definitely depends on the age group. The younger kids exhaust me, but are so fun!
