Moving to Korea can be daunting, especially when you're in the dark in terms of where you'll be living. I hope this tour of my apartment gives you an idea of what to expect and my additional packing tips are useful. Please feel free to leave questions and comments. Thanks for watching.

I have watched this video a good 5 times, i have watched so many of these but you made it so entertaining. I just got back from leaving my daughter in Korea, she started teaching in August. These videos made it much easier for me to feel ok with her leaving the country. Thanx for sharing.

I'm so happy that you are making videos from a small town! I've just been placed in Jeonnam for this October intake, and while all of the KZbin research that I've done has been helpful to prepare me for life in Korea, a lot of the vloggers and KZbinrs I've found have been in bigger cities farther north - so it's really nice to see some content from a small, southern city!
@CourtneyVictoria

Oooh exciting! Jeonnam is a beautiful province. Do you know where in Jeonnam yet? I decided to start making videos from my end because as you said, most Korea videos are from the larger cities!

Courtney Victoria I don’t know my city yet, but I should know by September! And yes, I think you’ve maybe inspired me to start learning how to make videos myself 🤗 I want everyone to get as much content about the smaller provinces as they do the bigger cities! And I bet you can get more of an authentic Korean experience in smaller places, too!

@@autamnw6751 Oooh absolutely, it's very fun and I didn't take too long to get my head around the whole editing process. Yes we need more rural content. You do experience things in the smaller places that you wouldn't in a city. I wish I'd started making videos once I arrived here but it took me a good year or so to have that brainwave haha

Just amazing. I came across your Photography videos and then saw these Korea experience videos and just cracked up - so funny. I stayed in Japan for a few weeks and had the same experience and I am 1,96m tall, so using the bathroom was always a lot of fun, similar to what you expreinced.... Good stuff, especially the photography videos

Hey, thanks for sharing!! Quick question (and apologizes on responding to a video from last year) - do you cover up your tattoos at work? I'm applying for EPIK now and have been stressing about my forearm tattoo. This video was fantastic and I look forward to seeing your other ones!
@CourtneyVictoria
@CourtneyVictoria 4 жыл бұрын
Hi! My two wrist tattoos (and sometimes my calf tattoo) were not covered while at school. My school was not bothered about them at all. The students were curious at first, asked questions if it was real or did it hurt. Obviously during the colder months they were naturally covered anyway. I know EPIK asks you to submit photos of your existing tattoos in the application process. I have 4 in total and they did not hinder me getting a position at all. Thanks and good luck with your application for EPIK. I remember it can feel like a long and stressful process in places.

Hi there so I just found out about your video and it's extremely helpful because I am thinking to go for EPIK , So according to you which city is the best to live in and teach and also which season is better ? Alongside how did you manage with knowing how to speak korean ?
@CourtneyVictoria
@CourtneyVictoria 4 жыл бұрын
Great! I applied for EPIK originally too but then transferred to the Rural program. Which city is up to you really, do you prefer the big cities or a smaller and quieter one? For big cities, some of my favourites are Daejeon and Busan! EPIK intakes are usually in Summer (August) or April (Spring) I came in August, so I experienced the summer weather first and then it became Winter very quickly. I learned Hangul before I arrived and a few basic Korean words, but it's easy to pick up some of the language here because you hear it so often. There are also lots of good online Korean lessons and some of the big cities here also have Schools or Universities where you can do a beginners course in Korean once or twice a week after work.

I think you should negotiate a newer/bigger accommodation. Your apartment looks too small and old even for a small old town. Your videos looks professional and fun. Good luck!
@CourtneyVictoria
@CourtneyVictoria 5 жыл бұрын
Hahaha I wish we could negotiate bigger apartments! Our school apartment budget wouldn't cover a large and newer apartment. But it's common for foreigners to find their own apartment and pay for it instead. I don't mind my small apartment. Thank you for your comment!
