Teaching My Wife to Drive a Porsche Carrera GT!

You might have seen the video where I told the story of my, then girlfriend, now wife, Senja, driving my stick GT3RS on a rally. That day I knew I was going to ask her to marry me. Today she levels up to driving one of the most difficult cars to drive, the Carrera GT. If you don't know, the Carrera GT has no flywheel and an incredibly compact clutch. Because of this modulating the clutch and gas as you normally would is impossible. So Porsche developed a system where the throttle is automatically applied as the clutch is released. A system that has been somewhat notorious.

Your wife seems like a cool person, and it's nice that you both can share your passion. That is a special thing when you have a significant other that takes an interest even somewhat on what your passions are. I think the whole thing about high powered cars is that no matter your skill level as a driver you need to respect the car and what it is capable of. If one does that then I think you can drive just about anything. I've worked at a lot of dealers just to get seat time in expensive cars , and I have never had any issues even in some decently fast cars.

After watching this video, this car seems way faster than what the figures on paper suggest i.e. 0-60mph in around 3.7s. The interior looks like a rollercoaster that's been put on a diet, fantastic_along with the couple.

I’ve always wondered since you can’t feather the gas and clutch on takeoff and have to let the clutch out itself before gas what happens when you’re on a hill parked or starting ? Do you just got to dump the clutch? How do you keep it from just rolling back or forward?!

For young people that don’t know about the Carrara there clutch on a good life cycle lasts 2000 miles that’s if you know how to drive the car , a few years ago the cheapest clutch change was 22,000 US dollars , he said between 40-50,000 lol I never heard of pricing like that but he should know since he works on all cars … this is the one reason why there are almost no high mileage GT’s because that 22 grand was just to much for the owner plus it would takes weeks in service … there are a few hyper/super cars that have things that just stop people from daily driving the model like LaFerrari and the replacement battery is 250,000 grand and they don’t have them so you have to go on a waiting list from what I’ve heard it’s over a year to get one

imo its one of the easiest sticks to drive when u find out the real way. once u get going its pretty much like any other car except the rpm rev fast when clutch is in XD. i would get out my driveway hill without touching the gas everyday XD . so easy.

As someone who grew up on a farm and drove/operated equipment and vehicles with all types of manual transmissions from a very young age, that looked unbelievably easy! Once John instructed his wife on the operation, I was dumfounded. Hard to drive my ass!

I don't particularly like the Carrera GT just because how people overhype this car , this car sounds like a BMW E60 M5 no matter how you put it people only like this car because of how it looks and the motorsport derived engine which the E60 M5 has aswell a motorsport derived V10 and nobody seems to hype over it because it's not made by a supercar manufacturer and the prices are so low , the Carrera GT is just overhyped the same way LS and 2JZ swaps are overhyped in the engine swap community , i like the Carrera GT but never as much as everyone else i see it i acknowledge it
