What I know of emotional expression is the feeling is --too sad or too happy... and since his pushing a concept is "minor" if it is more of infomration, it is just conveying but the feelings indicated here is more of emotional expression.

During the process of communication, many inevitable circumstances arise such as barrier, context, language ,etc.Shifting here depends on various situations. for example: usual chat with your close friend- you started with simple Q and A.It may be quite intimate and private. Suddenly, another friend has joined in. You and your friend shifted the communication because someone came in. The langauge form, the role, message, delivery,etc--- all are shifted
