feels like these floats set ups have been around since the beginning of time , must admit i do like the slots for the glow sticks thats a nice little touch and better than trying to elastic band some around it

Yes, chum/shirvy is brilliant for attracting fish to your bait

Do you not find that fishing with the weight locked in has a better hookup rate than a sliding lead?

Yes, you can use the same breaking strain line.

You can do, but powergum is more reliable

Plus you can reel a stop knot in onto the reel and cast it to fish deep at long range
