Even if you were to follow the oppressed desire, that would bring you closer to your genuine desires. And it would bring you closer to willing them into your existence. Yes. You can not fail at this game. Everything you do brings you closer to your truth and happiness. You can and should desire whatever you want and as you gain those things, you will learn more about what you truly want. but you can not know what you truly want unless you follow your CURRENT desires.

Teal Swan It is so beautiful said, everything ... I just think that the oppressed desires are the true desires, and through them you come in contact with the true self. The current desires are secondary: adopted, borrowed, or artificially created; in hope to replace the genuine, the oppressed ones with. Thank you so much, for creating this beautiful, qualitative, clear and clever video and speech...!

Ah Teal, due to my insecurities I have always settled for whoever pays me attention and have ended up in mediocre relationships. Never once have I allowed a man in with him I feel a spark or connection with. After watching this video, I will do only that. I deserve being with someone who I connect with and nott be ashamed of being sexually attracted to a man. I’m 56 and have worked on myself for years while being single, what would be the point of settling..This video has arrived at the perfect time. Thank you.

I'm exactly like the guy you stated in scenario 2 who is attracted to beautiful women. Interesting story, a girl chased me for a while who I didn't find very attractive but I fell in love with her personality, for a while I was always struggling like you stated in the scenario whereby I see other attractive girls and find my settlement not as appealing. Eventually I realized what I have now is what I fell in love with and stopped wishing for this illusion I had in my mind and I was able to change. Now I don't care at all how attractive other girls appear to be, I simply just love the one who is my soulmate.

What I miss in this video is: 'wanting' things in another person, are your own projections. Than you want someone to fix things you THINK you can't do/be yourself, or you want it because you haven't accepted parts of yourself/the universe like it is (like unwealthyness, lazyness, etc). It's when you judge certain characteristics in humans. The point is, 'wanting' and desire is a thing from the ego. Notice that everytime when you feel truly relaxed and happy, there isn't anything you want. It is possible to love everything that IS. And every person that IS. Not despite good looks, or because of good looks. Or despite no money, or because of money. There is no 'because'. The 'loving someone BECAUSE'.... = ego. That's not love. Love is loving what is. Loving all there is. So when you find yourself judging or blaming your partner (indeed, because of an illusion you fell in love with), it is because you don't accept certain things as they are. Not because you would truly be happier with a person who has all the things you 'want'.

That was my thought. I'm not on board this follow your desires where ever they may go type of thing. Many of our desires are ACTUALLY unreasonable given our situation and teach people that they should never settle seems more like advice specifically for someone like teal swan who is both beautiful and wealthy rather than a normal woman. I'm not sure this video is 100% on point there's some poison in this video too.

I still believe it is healthy to see the potential a partner has, and be supportive of their endeavours as long as those endeavours are theirs. But you need to acknowledge and love them for who they are right now irrespectively. Can’t hold it against them if they don’t quite reach what they hoped for, but be there to catch them if they happen to fall..

That's an impressive plethora of relationship pathology that she talks about. Sadly, those problems often do coexist in relationships. Consider also, much of what we see in others is actually a projection of our own attributes. Therefore, in a sense, we can actually fall in love with ourselves, while misidentifying the other persons character. "Unhealthy" relationships are not necessarily a bad thing, if the couple is able to work through some or all of the issues. Relationships can be stable and fulfilling, even with unhealthy behaviors present. It's best if people can figure out what's healthy or not, and accept the relationship as it is. I think sometimes people fall in love with the concept of being in love, while hardly noticing much about the person they are about to select as a partner. Even that kind of situation can work out, or if it doesn't, those individuals are at least one step closer to a successful relationship later on. It is absolutely true that we should look for what we want in a mate, be it looks or financial security, or whatever else might be a sustained interest. I believe there is a biologic basis for being attracted to certain physical features, besides the obvious one of simply liking good looks. I think we are genetically programmed to look for others whose attributes are complementary or compensatory, in a way that leads to improvement of humanity as a species. Maybe that's why fat and thin, short and tall, outgoing and introverted people often come together. Anyway, she's right! Love who you are with for who they are exactly, now. If we see lots of goodness in them, be aware, that through that person, you are admiring and loving yourself. Don't fall in love with hopes and expectations. Even if they come true, they are not the accomplishments that maintain deep abiding love. It always remains the heart and love of the individual rather than the work, that establishes deep and fulfilling connection.

Now, he has actually become very spiritual. Kind of funny.

Perhaps he already was spiritual, he was just denying that part of himself. There's a massive difference between spiritual people who deny their spirituality and non-spiritual people, you can sense the spirituality in a person, even if it is being suppressed. Your partner never really changed, he just rediscovered a part of himself that was already there.

I thought some of this had merit, but after two failed marriages, I think my experience more closely resembles the joke (not funny if it's too close to the truth), "Women marry with the idea of changing him to fit her needs, but men marry with the expectation that she not change." Both end up disappointed.

In my perspective I expect change in her but in a sense that she may evolve . And I am eager to be with her in her evolution as I evolve myself spiritually . Just a thought as not even Teal has the black and white on this just perspectives on her perception which is pretty good Teal.

yes I like what you say about loving them for who they are here and now, I would like to add that if this relationship is going to continue for years you must allow them to change and grow :) also we must realize we will never fully know or understand this person, they are multifaceted and not static beings, so, as you said you must not hold expectations for this person, but allow them to show you who they are and do your best to love them unconditionally. be open minded and let them surprise you!! much love to you teal!

Teal isn’t talking about being in love, but recognising what you want and being in a relationship with someone you want. This advice is useful but not a long term situation because things we want tend to change over time. The only way to find love in a relationship is to first fall in love with yourself.

„Fall in love what is and not what could be.“ I love this sentence :) I only do not understand one example: If you normally do not acknowledge, what you really want yourself and stop pursuing it, because of „society“ I get it. But what if you want something, but are never able to reach it? No matter if relationships or other longings. What if you actually always seem to „generate“ situations and result, that are rather quite the opposite of your longing? Is that a sign, that you yourself believe unconsciously, that you should not and are not allowed to raech that wish, or is it a sign of your subconscious or higher conscious, that what you believe to be your real longing is illusion? How can you discern your „false“ programming by yourself or the outside world and strip of this clouding layers of false information?
@MukwaNdishnikaaz
@MukwaNdishnikaaz 10 жыл бұрын
I think that sometimes false programming can be identified by your results. When you see patterns that consistently appear in your life it is a sign that there is a false program running in your belief system. Another possibility is that the desire may not be a core desire or in contradiction to a core desire. The person who really wants the nice house and fancy cars but does absolutely nothing to get it clearly either doesnt really want it or has other programming running that prevents themselves from going after it. There are many methods of doing your inner work to figure these out. Some of them you can do with yourself like guided meditations and some you may want to go to see someone who does this for a living. One of the methods I use on my clients is ThetaHealing to identify core beliefs systems and replace the false ones.

This is the best comment i found here so far! The "what is" is not about falling in love with his/her current condition, but falling in love with his/her *core*. Looking at the current condition like a good education / job / salary still doesn't free us from "what could be" thinking. Desire for a partner from your soul, and Source will show him/her to you..

That was GREAT! Are there any videos on "energy" and attraction? I am attracted to a persons energy. It doesnt matter how attractive they are, if I cannot feel their energy in a magnetic way, I am repelled. How do you find people of compatible energy, without eating carrots and hanging out in a yoga class all day?
@Marjolinos

Do you know Eckhart Tolle? You could watch some movies of him. You always attract things that match your energy. So when you don't like what you attract, there are some 'non acceptances' in you. What you want, is possible, if you see things for what they really are... especially in yourself.

Beautiful and wise! Yes, she’s right and obviously there are many more factors to the equation, but she is providing one of the most significant in our narcissistic society. The only question that was left aside is the “why you might want potential in place of reality.” She did mention it implicitly although the reference was more into what we see, not why we want to see it in that way. What we want in others tells us more about us than the other.

This is the first time I have disagreed with Teal. Here's why. I am a hostess at a restaurant. I also have a law degree, and plan to be a psychologist. That will take years of work and school, and my partner knows that. My partner is getting his masters in sports management. He's applying for PhD programs in sports management, because his goal and his dream is to be a sports management professor. I love him fully, exactly as he is right now. He loves me fully, exactly as I am right now. But neither of us would be happy, or want to stay in the relationship, if the other stayed exactly where they are right now. We both completed law degrees. He left law because he hated it. I am disinclined to practice law - because I hate it. Neither of us expects the other to become a lawyer. But I do expect him to complete his goal of becoming what he truly wants to be - a sports management professor. And he does expect me to become something other than a hostess. (I have the same expectation of myself.) I understand the broad strokes value of this video. But I think it leaves out and maybe discounts those couples who are engaged simultaneously in working toward goals they both value, and which their partners expect them to fulfill. Life would not be what I wanted it to be, with my partner, if he stayed a masters degree student, or never fulfilled his dream of becoming a professor. And I expect life would not be what my partner wants it to be, with me, if I stayed a restaurant hostess. That, I feel, is 100% okay. We love each other as we are now. We also expect and look forward to the day when we have both actualized and become the people each of us plans to be. And we cherish being with one another in the meantime.

+Jessica Hubbard I don't think you have to "become" the person you plan to be.... it is all already there...the seeds are there, it just has not manifested externally - and maybe it will in the future, or maybe it will not. But I guess you love the seeds that are there. Your partner is striving towards that goal, that is the seed. Even though it has not manifested. What happens if there is an economic crisis and he will never achieve this goal? Would that make you stop loving him?
@kittykatfancy
@kittykatfancy 8 жыл бұрын
No, I love who he is. That has a lot to do with his wit, intellect and drive. If there were an economic crisis he would apply himself in another direction and be just fine. TRUST ME he is not without faults. (Ahem. He is being rather a jerk at the moment.) But I do love him. And that is good.

When I've found myself in a relationship such as this, I had to get very honest with myself. What I discovered was I didn't take enough time to get to know the person, it became sexual too soon and I didn't listen to the whispers or justified them. Once the whispers became screams, I felt "duped". My inner voice was trying to get my attention..but I didn't want to hear or believe it...lol

THIS ADVICE along with many other videos are IN TOTAL CONTRADICTION with the video titled why we do not remember our past lives where Teal talked about "The universe is trying to explore and realize itself through as many possible perspectives as possible from our physical experiences such that we would want to experience to be a butcher in one life as well as the animal being butchered in another life"... THIS IS DUE TO FRAGMENTED THINKING FROM THE SOURCE that Teal channels from.
@TheWiseOldChinaman

Heidi Svenson I think you missed my point. What i was trying to get at based on what Teal said in the video titled " Why we do not remember our past lives" is that, IF Teal is telling people that we are here to experience for the sake of experience in order for the all knowing all abundant universe to expand, why advise us to change anything or expect anything instead of just let things happen as designed and intended and planned by the omnipotent and omniscient universe?

TheWiseOldChinaman These two ideals are not in contradiction to each other. Both are true still. We ARE here to expand. Our learning and shifting and changing and unraveling of ourselves is what causes us to expand. Figuring out what you want and what you dont want is part of how you expand. Free will is the design we set for ourselves before coming here. When we find our way back to the core of who we are and be true to ourselves and desires, we find ourselves feeling more fulfilled and consequently more connected in the process. You can change your desires. But if you have core desires they are hard to change or overcome if it is not your path to do so.

In the past, I watched your videos when I was really down. Now, I am relatively up in comparison, despite a recent breakup. You helped me understand others who told me to give up on wanting what I want. I froze myself in time right now and I was like “damn, not too shabby”. Despite often blaming myself for failed relationships, I think it was my foresight and awareness in some of these situations that got me through.

Thats very true Tamara. I was raised by a single mother that taught me all women are beautiful, providers of life, nurture and above all understanding. As Im still friends with my exes, I can say they are all different in every way possible. Those things never mattered to me, but statuesque tells people to find what benefits them only. More people need to realize looking for and "falling" for archetypes are dangerous. Peace.

Two types of change govern the flow of events in our lives: the type we imagine and wish for, and the type that life initiates for us. Whether we are the engines that drive how we move forward with the next phase of our lives, or we are directed by spontaneous events, nothing is more useful at a time of change than having insightful advice or guidance!

best way to sum it all up, the best relationships are two independent people with a mutual understanding. and remember true love is true appreciation, that's why you need to love yourself first is because if you appreciate yourself you wont let your emotions become dependent on another human, then once you got that down you meet another person who understands that. so instead of your partner becoming some kind of possession they become your partner in appreciation

This Is such a mind opening for me.... I Always wanted a relationship with a rich man but I denied that to myself and considered selfish and not ok ... And as a consequence I beat myself up for wanting that ... I ended up with a wealthy man but not generous One and One that tells me I love him for his Money , it's not true , but I think that because of not accepting this desire of me he mirrored back to me ....We broke up.... But after listening to this I have the inner pace of being ok with what I desire and won' t settle for anything less ❤️❤️❤️
