Actually Blake's part does cut out for a second. He's not playing the lead, and there are obviously other guitars being played besides his, but his is making the distorted sort of "crunch" sound. You can really hear a few quick hits right after this point when he starts strumming again. That sound, you can't hear when he isn't playing.
