Best solution for Eurostar/Sportstar brakes: chuck the whole mess in the trash. They're truly terrible and can't hold the airplane for a proper runup. I'm facing the $2k+ expense of installing the Matco brake system in my Sportstar. It will be a major job but those brakes WORK and don't corrode themselves to death. Good pointers on inspection on the Evektor Stars! Thank you.

We’ve fitted Beringer systems to a number of planes, not cheap, but very impressive.

Hey, I'm the first to comment. Love the EV97 superb aircraft, the US Sportstar Harmony variant seems even better (better wing, ailerons etc). Tyres, to my mind, seem to crack prematurely these days, on motor vehicles there's a reason for that and it's not just UV exposure. Tyres can be made to last longer with certain treatments too. Good job you noticed the brake caliper leak too (looks like some motorcycle calipers I've worked on), the pilot/owner should have noticed, but TBF low wing, small wheels etc hard to see (worse with spats/pants on), that's where high wings have an advantage, I guess (during the walk around preflight checks). Thanks for posting 👍😊

@@wingnutshomeofmicromainten6946 Thanks. See my edit on brakes and tyres, that why there's 25, 50 and 100 hour checks👍😉😊🛩️🛩️ BTW, just out of interest, how long does it take to get Eg a set of tyres or caliper repair kit delivered in the microlight industry?🤔🤔😊

DId you do the brakes work before or after the tyres? I normally would work on brakes then tyres, so no hydraulic fluid can get on the tyre, as it kills them.

Yes breaks and then tyres. I suspect the cracked tyres were related to the leaking calliper.

Not my style of aircraft but good points covered that could be applicable to most aircraft. 👍
