Great video and instruction for free! Cheers from a Sportstar owner in the southwest USA.

Another informative video Ben. I must say that i am very impressed with your instructor. Obviously a skilled pilot in his own right but its the fact that he is taking you through some fun/serious situations. Love the dead stick landings and the white line hopping. I think he is also having some fun and the mutual respect is so apparent. Thanks for sharing .

Great point about the go around, into the wind, especially if it was from a forced landing as the engine is likely to fail again.
@BenAtkinsonVideos4 жыл бұрын
Yeh - I was disappointed with that one - but other than that - a very good productive session!

Hi Ben, still working through the back catalogue. I really like the low level line weaving. It certainly has a good glide ratio for the engine failures.

Nice work Ben! Seems like the Eurostar is a bit less forgiving (metal wings, low wing & smaller ailerons) and more of a challenge, but a lot of fun and more "sporty". Nice day for it too! Lovely little aeroplane, a bit disconcerting when the air cooling fan at the front got switched off though LOL!
@BenAtkinsonVideos4 жыл бұрын
Hahaha yes a little. Great to try it tho. Yeh it’s less forgiving but simply wonderful to fly!
@musoseven82184 жыл бұрын
Ben Atkinson Certainly looks that way and ergonomically it's more like a GA aircraft. You must be clocking up some nice hours, with better aircraft availability/choice now :-)

Excellent Ben! I’ve never done a dead stick landing myself so it’s cool to see it done. I’m laughing at how far you can glide and how long you have to decide on a field with the Eurostar compared to the helicopter. I might have to do a comparison video. 🚁✈️👍🏻
@BenAtkinsonVideos4 жыл бұрын
It’s odd to think how much extra drag you get off the static prop. Certainly good to experience. Haha honestly - the Eurostar glide distance catch’s me out on my next video...my worst approach ever 😂😫 yes a comparison video would be amazing....!! 👍👍
@RoryOnAir4 жыл бұрын
Ben Atkinson yeah I was always warmed it would create more drag but haven’t experienced it. I’ll look forward to your video. 👌

Probably a question for Dave. Is the benefit of practicing PFL with engine off actually worth the safety risk? If a person/animal/vehicle encroached the runway just before touch down, you would be fortunate to successfully restart and execute a go around.
@BenAtkinsonVideos4 жыл бұрын
Yeh I think thats a good point - however....we were certainly in, and it was a closed airfield - also - with such a large amount of ground you can see animals etc. I fully trust him and it was good to train for that...it felt very different. But - great point taken on. Ill ask him ...and let you know!
@musoseven82184 жыл бұрын
MrAlwaysBlue Anywhere else, with anyone else, in other conditions and circumstances? I think it would be a no, no, not worth the risk. It's all about choices, decision making, risk assessment relative to experience. I get the feeling that the instructor knows the aircraft and airfield very well.
