They're the experts, but, lower towing point and surly they have inflatable rollers to roll the boat rather than drag.

Sad to say but this is drama tv its been scripted. As a professional recovery and salvage they would know this. if it came out all easy it wouldn't make air.

Should pull from a lower point, now it’s digging in the sand making it more difficult.

RIght?! They could have put the boat attachment low, and the excavator attachment higher(as long as there's a hardpoint to attach to)

Love it guys, personally believe your pulling from to higher up on the bowl of the boat... If ya popped some holes lower down.. it would lift it up and over the sand and the excavators tow point is was to low.. which would pull the boat into the sand...

@@philpotsymington5374 yes but the risk is mitigated and very low. Worst case they would have to cut some chain links to weeken them and wait for the snap. Its much safer to add the drama of using a bad rigging point than to risk a snapped chain causing injury.

Ya know one D9 dozer would have solved all your problems.. and if you can afford to rent that excavator and the crane then you coulda rented a dozer which would have hooked to the boat and towed it easily. There isn't much a d9 cat won't move. Haha

nah...they just didn't know any better..same reason they didn't put a cradle sling around the twin keels..or tie to the right side of the truck, forcing it towards the water instead of higher on the beach...like an earlier poster said...no skill or technique..just brute force

, Ridiculous !! why did they not use a cutting torch to remove the keels? the hull would sail on the sand instead of having two large plows digging down a few feet in the sand,, had they removed them the excavator would have pulled this hull alone, None of these had gotten a job in my company,
@thesausage351
@thesausage351 3 жыл бұрын
Do you know where these guys work? It’s in remote country, and you don’t always have access to tools you might normally use, and they work under very tight deadlines. Also as it is a wreck, OHS might not approve the use of a cutting torch in case there is fuel or gas trapped in the hull. They are a professional salvage company so I’m pretty sure they have a bit of an idea of what to do.

The truth is, they are not recovering a wrecked boat from the beach. They are making a dramatized TV program. What they show in these reality TV shows has little or no relation to how things are usually done in real life. They have to make a crisis out of every cracked egg.
@thesausage351
@thesausage351 3 жыл бұрын
@@donfink7063 Right, but because they’re making a TV show doesn’t excuse them from OHS rules, and definitely doesn’t allow them to pollute the beach or water. They have insurances, contracts, conditions and laws they need to work by, and if they break any of them for whatever reason they’re liable for fines and prosecution. Add to that they have a time limit that cannot be changed or argued against, the tide. So they do the recovery as they normally would, the TV company edit it to put the drama in.
