I love vergil as a character more, but sephiroth does have the slight edge. But it’s admittedly weird to me because I feel like Vergil and Dante could easily overpower cloud, and yet cloud defeats sephiroth, so I don’t know lol.

yea when you really take a look back into Vergil's abilities, he has something called a concentration gauge in his appearances in games, and said concentration is how he is capable of dishing out a lot more powerful attacks. with that said, all of those attacks dealt to Vergil what killed him, because if he gets hit, so too does his concentration gauge.

For everyone watching pay attention to the stats they make to compare sephiroth to other characters 1. They state how much force it took for the buster sword to crush the metal pipe, the stat they state for force that vergil used to destroy beowulfs body and when you make the measurements actually they same the force vergil uses is 10x stronger than the strongest attack he's apparently blocked. 2. They state that in the dragon fight sephiroth took no damage and zack was one shot, they forgot to mention that in the footage they used seph was lv.50 and zack lv.1. I'm sorry but vergil wouldn't even break a sweat fighting seph WITHOUT EVEN USING DT XD

Honestly the power-scaling for both of these characters is all over the place depending who you ask (not to mention this battle was done before DMC 5 was a thing without Vergil's SDT and who knows?, FF7R might actually give Sephy new abilities/feats down the road). However going from the most agreed scaling: Vergil is universal level (due to being confirmed as his brother's equal) meanwhile Sephy is Solar System level... so this battle should've been an AP stomp for Vergil but alas... :/ Ofc I've seen peeps downplay Vergil to city or mountain level and Sephy to building level (while calling his magical/lifestream feats "outliers").

The whole DMC thing is, to fuck god tier enemies with swag. FF was all overall the place is because, they just can't find other way to show strength, then try to find a way to justify every earth shattering "move". DMC it over the place is because, the capcom philosophy is use the skills at your disposal, to kill anything even if it's god or demons that's in your way. That mean, whatever how high tier you are, they can kill you, and looking cool doing it.

Sorry, not sorry, but Vergil would destroy Sephiroth (and this is coming from an FF7 fan). The arguement can be boiled down to: 1) Not as arrogant, thus wouldn't underestimate his foe once he'd see his capabilities 2) Uses bis arsenal of magic in fights (and in creative ways that Sephiroth has no answer to, on that) 3) His counter attack based fighting style leaves him far less exposed and better suited to take Sephiroths single-directional offense 4) Sephiroth has used both the illusions (which Vergil could resist by feats) and the Supernova ONLY in circumstancial situations, which wouldn't apply in a fair fight in neutral ground. 5. Sephiroth has proven to be defeated everytime the fight takes an unexpected turn (*cough* Devil Trigger *cough* Sin Devil Trigger *cough*) 6. Sephiroths flight is cancelled by Vergil teleportation 7. Masamune is a one trick pony, and Sephiroth constantly fails to take advantage of, as EVERY SINGLE ONE of his foes can close the distance 8. Vergil has more weapons, who offer more versitility in their own 9. Yamato is the perfect counter to Supernova (IF Supernova WERE an issue) 10. AC Cloud defeated Sephiroth in 1v1 fight and Vergil is certainly comparable to Cloud Also, if your looking for consistently well reasoned videos, DB might not be the best choice as their primiary goal is to entertain (which they pass with flying colours), not to be analytical.

If they did better research they would have seen that it said yamatos is only as strong as the wielder is at that moment. When vergil fought dante in dmc3 and lady blocked his attack he had just fought dante and was weakened. Even jester said it. He wasn't in his top condition which is why he took lady dante and vergil down. Also the part were mundus beat vergil and controlled him he only lost because he literally just fought dante and was again weakened. Then the supernova he could have just opened a portal and went somewhere else. They said he could do it in his abilities but didnt have him do it. Yamato and rebellion are pretty much equally as strong which is why he cant cut through it that but im pretty sure sephiroths sword isn't stopping that. So they pretty much limited vergil alot.

Dude Yamato can only open portals when there's a hell gate.... If not it only opens a portal from point A to point B within earth surface not other dimensions or other universe, and he still needs to charge up Yamato to perform these feat. In the video it works like that because they're on the babel tower and it is the biggest hell's gate in dmc verse.

I feel it’s obvious and kinda unimportant as it doesn’t change a thing, but both Dante v Bayonetta and this one came out before DMC5 was announced at E3 Anyway, details and fun facts Sephiroth was voiced by Kamran Nikhad, the voice of Zangan from Final Fantasy VII: Machinabridged, Geehan from Dust: An Elysian Tail, and Yellowjacket from Marvel Avengers Academy Vergil was voiced by Marc Soskin, the voice of Jan Valentine from Hellsing Ultimate Abridged and Android 17 from Super Android 13 Abridged Unlike Dante VS Bayonetta, this one was made when the show started to use original music for the fight animations. This time, the OST, One Winged Devil, was done by the music group known as Werewolf Therewolf. Here’s the link to the music alone: kzbin.info/www/bejne/a5aVeounnseJgMk Now for my personal thoughts I’m a huge fan of Devil May Cry, and Vergil is among one of my favorite characters in the series, if not my absolute favorite. No disrespect to Sephiroth though, he seems pretty cool, but I massively prefer Vergil. So seeing him lose does hurt, but I pretty much figured going into this fight that he was gonna lose. As for the fight, oh man it’s so good. The atmosphere of it, the flow, the fact that the movement is ripped straight out of both of their games, the music to go along with it, the voice acting(although admittedly I didn’t like Vergil’s to start, but I feel after the line “Ok, you’re strong. But are you fast enough?” he got better), it all comes together to make one amazing fight. While yes, Vergil’s coat was really far away from his body and it made him look fat, and yes that is very distracting, I imagine it was done to avoid the coat clipping through his legs. Still could’ve toned it down a bit however, as I noticed a few shots where his hands clip through the coat. Also that scene where Sephiroth lifts Vergil off the ground before he kills him is a direct reference to that scene from FF7 Advent Children where he does the same thing to Cloud. That’s pretty cool. The research could’ve been better(using slow motion scaling for a scene that isn’t even in slow motion? What?) but I do agree with Sephiroth winning. Can’t wait to see more reactions to this. My recommendations include fights like Nightwing VS Daredevil, Wolverine VS Raiden(once you finish MGR, that is), Optimus Prime VS Gundam, or Crash VS Spyro

This Is one of the ones where I have issues and it might be bias because I'm a vergil lover through and through. But the issue I had here was the fact that sephiroth has only ever used supernova while in the lifestream and with black materia. And I know that they decided to combine all of sephs appearances in games into one form whereas there was only one form for vergil at the time which gives seph a whole bunch of abilities he normally wouldn't have in ff7. In any case I love seph as well and let's be honest the 2 are the same character in different franchises. I'll take the unfortunate L.

Ok for anyone who thinks Sephiroth should’ve lost, as much as I hate to say it, there isn’t much information detailing sephiroths maximum potential, as it’s been stated by ff7 director that Sephiroth has never shown what he is truly capable of, sure he’s shown a lot, but no one knows what he’s really capable of because no existing material has ever show cased it. Unless we get more details on sephiroth’s capabilities, this death battle just boils down to interpretation of what little we do have.

Well, in the sense that it means he keeps scaling up to Dante, sure, but in terms of feats, it didn't really bring anything new - beside giving him for sure the Doppleganger style. Ultimately, not sure if it'd change anything in this paticular match-up. I mean, Sin DT looks neat, but so far it's hard to scale it.

The legend where Vergil's sword can cut through anything is actually true. Although it doesn't physically cut through anything, Vergil's judgment CUT cuts through anything. P.s. In one game (I think it was dmc4) it only states that Yamato only has the POTENTIAL to cut through anything. It never says it a sure thing.

Well I don't thank that capcom showed the speed and slow motion of rain with precision so the % calculation were wrong. Well even if sephiroth was doing Super Nova move, Vergil could just go through portal to different place and then go back when it's all over from Super Nova.

Unless in the game they state he can't use some of his powers outside of the stream then they're tight to give him those powers. What powers do you even mean? And why give Vergil the powers of Sparda? To my knowledge he never really got it by this time.

@UCoCSFKwzTxzypKosB0VxVBQ for one thing his constant spam of illusions and spells. He doesn't have infinite MP. Quite limited in fact. Then they removed the fact that Vergil could've easily used Judgement Cut on Supernova, or the fact that Sephiroth cannot survive a Judgement Cut (he died twice on a weaker attack aka Cloud's Omnislash) Bias is bias.

how can seph. fight someone faster than him ?. i mean vergil & dante destroyed 100,008 raindrops in less than a second, asuming vergil managed to destroy 25% of it, he would have delivered about 25,000 strikes in less than a second. how can sepheroth fight someone like this. and the dimensional teleportations.

I really, really, REALLY absolutely love both Sephiroth and Vergil! But as much as I love Sephiroth…I gotta go for Vergil. Though I only like Vergil *very* slightly more than Sephiroth.

This is easily one of the best ones they've ever done in terms of animation quality, give whoever animated it a damn raise. However, that aside , the actual debate is as redundant as Thanos vs Darkseid or Goku vs superman. One simply cant kill the other , thus they lose by default. Vergil was faster , Sephiroth was stronger and in terms of skill and experience they were equal due to them both having fought individuals as overpowered as them. Vergil's healing was more reliable and faster but unlike Sephiroth's it can be worn down, so yeah they were pretty equal overall. However , where the mold of the standard 1v1 breaks is in Sephiroth's LITERAL IMMORTALITY. Vergil is INSANELY powerfull and a skilled fighter (especcially his DMC 5 counterpart) , but none of that really matters because even if Vergil kills Sephiroth's physical form, he'll just reform it with the planet's life energy. It might take a few days, it might take centuries, but eventually he'll come back. So yeah , unless Vergil pulls some reality warping magic out of his ass , he loses by default on the account of not being able to actually kill Sephiroth. One thing to note tho is that they seriously downplayed both Vergil and Sephiroth: Cloud casually cuts through buildings in the Advent Children movie and is ridicilously agile , faar surpassing Zack at this point mind you ,and yet, Sephiroth at just 1/3 of his strength was dominating Cloud through 90% of their fight. The strength of Vergil's Yamato doesn't come from its ability to cut things with its actual blade. It comes from its ability to cut through dimensions , essentially bypassing all defense and cutting down targets that are MILES away. Just look at Dante in DMC 4 when he cuts down the artificial Hellgate with Yamato, he did it wirh surgical precision despite being faaar away from it , and Dante is nowhere nearly as skilled with Yamato as his brother.

Got two for ya Suzy. One of my favorites Gundam vs Optmis Prime and my all time favorite Japanese Monster the King 👑 himself Godzilla vs Gamera. Now I do know that you can’t get around to everyone all at one but glad that you’re enjoying a good DEATH BATTTTTLLLLE fight 😎. Been a huge fan from Kratos vs Spawn after that been hook ever since then with only one or two that haven’t been that great.

As much as I'm no big fan of either series, Vergil should've won imo. The way he was killed here was BS. If Cloud was able to defeat Sephiroth, why not Vergil? Plus Both Vergil and Dante have aspects far those than anything that both Sephiroth and Cloud have achieved in the past. Unlimited magic? Yeah no... as far as I remember, Sephiroth's supply of magic is limited and could only do much to handle anything beyond what both Dante and Vergil's can do with their god-like speed powers. Strength is one thing but speed is another if one knows how to master it like the Sparda siblings had. This is why death battle not only brings out superiority, but their research is not as accurate as one would think. Heck even every single one of the Rooster Teeth characters that were brought into death battle will always be destined to win against others that aren't RT characters by either unfair matching, lack of proper research, or just plain superiority because of it.

Their argument about Yamato is based on a faulty assumption. Devil Arms are Imbued objects they have souls and share a synergistic bond with their weilder. Yamato cannot cut through Rebellion because rebellion is strengthened by Dante's will. and it failed to cut through Kalina Ann because Vergil had been fought to a standstill by Dante. he had been weakened and so Yamato had been weakened. That said Sephiroth would have still taken this fight however, post Sin Devil Trigger Vergil would have trounced him soundly.
