They werent clones they were illusions which couldnt have even hurt Vergil unlike a real clone but Vergil thought the real Sephiroth was among them(Which he clearly was not) so he kept fighting them. The entire illusion scene was Sephiroth flexing Vergils weakness so in truth it was torture not Vergil prevailing in any way...

@@VitunVatiVille and the fact that Vergil is fighting a clone sephiroth not the real one...... How? The hint is that sephiroth's bleeds. The real Sephiroth would not bleed cause he don't have a physical body after the events of the nibelhiem mako reactor. His real body was inside the crystalized condensed mako/materia that was located in the northern cave.

I loved this battle I've played DMC 1,2&3 and FF7 and I'm fine with Sephiroth winning, a lot of Vergil's feats seem to be for the Rule of cool or from Yamato, and Vergil killed an already weakened Beowulf to get those gauntlets of his, so not even that is all his, so yeah not so impressed, though feel free to tell me your opinion, as long as you don't just resort to insulting me for not thinking Vergil is immortal because of a good healing factor that only works in cut scenes and devil trigger, when you play as him. Though I did like him as a character but I've never seen him be as actually powerful as Sephiroth, he's powerful in DMC but that doesn't mean he's more powerful than someone else in a different game/show because power scaling works differently in them so no official scale someone made or uses would work because you have to account for the differences between those worlds, so if the source says someone is omnipotent than the are and that means that in their world they are you saying they aren't because of what someone in a different anime did doesn't mean they aren't (SethTheProgrammer)ignore this part I'm venting on something I find stupid

What facts were you spouting on that Vergil stomps sephiroth? Lol there's no way that Vergil can do that to sephiroth...... Even that 9d Vergil can't do anything to ffviiR sephiroth.... How? Well don't you know that sephiroth absorbs the harbringers of fate/whispers that every single one of them are complex multiverse level, and since sephiroth absorbs a billions of them that put him on complex omniverse level. There's no way Vergil can inflicted damage to sephiroth with that feat.

1 Correction: Yamato can cut through everything, it's power just gets weaker the more damage the user takes.

The wiki article notes it. It would explain how Vergil can cut through more sturdier objects than a simple rocket launcher yet struggled in that case after being beaten up a bit.

I brought up the wiki page and it does say that. Writers and content creaters often create blades 'able to cut through anything', chiefly because it sounds cool. But blades don't work that way, if a blade were that sharp then the edge would dull rapidly as it was used. Even if the edge of the blade were one atom in width it would only be able to glide through objects as it passed between other atoms, and god forbid the atoms touch because then you'd have created an atomic explosion. The only way a blade could work like this were if it was magic, and it is also highly likely that the indestructible (it would have to be, otherwise a blade of that length, especially a katana, would be extremely fragile) masamune was magic as well, like many other Final Fantasy weapons.

I know, but my point was that if masamune was enchanted to be indestructible and yamato was enchanted to cut through anything then they would just cancel eachother out, with neither destroying the other, but neither would they have the desired effect. It's the sword equivalent of the 'unstoppable force vs immovable object' argument.
