I'm so happy I came across this video! I remember my Grandmother and I driving her goat cart around her tiny Nebraska town every summer in the late 1950s!! ♡

Goats! Who knew! Although, I guess that most goat breeds aren't big and strong enough to pull carts.

Classy and calm! We've trained some of our goats to pull and then we sell them with a homemade harness and cart. Such fun!

Aww, thank you. :-) That is so awesome that you train and sell harness goats!! Bravo to you, and thank you for helping get more people interested in driving goats! :-)

My goat I'm training is a year old his harness is still a bit big but I've had him walking in it just getting used to it. I've got a reel mower I'm going to have him pull to keep in training once he's a little bigger and I thought I'll get two things at once, a trained goat and a mowed lawn lol. Love these videos

That is so fantastic to hear! I bet he will love pulling his mower when he is ready! :-) I am so glad you are enjoying our videos.

They can indeed. There are even depictions of goats pulling carts and chariots, dating all the way back to the Bronze Age. 😀

@austinwoodward25293 жыл бұрын
Exactly what I want to do. I will buy a wagon and 2 Suffolk ram lambs, train them to pull it. Genius!
@teamsnazzygoat3 жыл бұрын
Awesome! That sounds like a fantastic project! Rams and bucks are easier to work with if you are an experienced trainer (or are used to working with stallions and bulls). If you are new to training, I would highly recommend wethering your ram lamb team, when they turn four months old. That way they will have time to grow big and strong, and will have a slightly milder temperament. :-)

What you'll do if they'll bolt and run as a wind? Are you able to stop them using your reins? Thank you.
@teamsnazzygoat Жыл бұрын
Yes. The reins can stop them. If they are bolting, out of control, I might have to turn them first, to slow down, and then stop them with the reins. :)

Where did you find this datling cart and harness?
@teamsnazzygoat Жыл бұрын
Thank you! :) The harnesses are two Tough-1 nylon mini horse harnesses, from State Line Tack. Here is a link: www.statelinetack.com/item/tough1-basic-nylon-driving-harness/BOT74/ We got our cart from a mini horse breeder, who in turn, got it at an auction.

Does having the blinders help them not eat grass at all ? What breed are they?
@teamsnazzygoat5 жыл бұрын
They are American Cashmere goats. The blinders definitely help to keep their focus on the road ahead, and off of distractions like grass and flying insects. ;)
@Serenityssillyvids5 жыл бұрын
cluckcluckhen oh okay that’s awesome I used to have a lamb that I trained to pull a cart but she just kept trying to eat the grass I just got a new lamb and kid and I’m hoping to train them to also pull a cart I hope it works😁
@teamsnazzygoat5 жыл бұрын
That is fantastic! We also have discouraged eating on drives from the beginning by only using verbal, or physical praise, and not giving any treats or allowing any snacking during harness training. That way they understand that driving time is not meal-time. After we untack at the end of each drive or training session, the boys do get to enjoy a delicious treat. :-)
@Serenityssillyvids5 жыл бұрын
cluckcluckhen ok great that’s what I’ve been doing teaching them not to eat grass it’s working so far but do you have any tips on how to halter break a goat I’ve had and trained a lot of sheep but this is my first goat and I’m having trouble halter braking him he stand tied up really well but when I go to walk he just stands there😐
@teamsnazzygoat5 жыл бұрын
Sometimes it helps to loop a rope around their back-sides, like breeching, and give it a tug when you pull on the halter. They might brace and fuss at first, but it usually does the trick. If you have a very fussy goat, he may need to learn to be led in circles first, and when he gets tired of turning to one side or another, he might be content to be led straight forwards. The key is to not give up, and always end on a good note, even if it's just one step forwards. :-)

How did you get your bit and how did you brake them to it?
@teamsnazzygoat5 жыл бұрын
We got them here: www.horsetackco.com/french-link-eggbutt-pony-bit.html First they got used to wearing a soft rope like a bit, and once they were comfy with that, we slowly introduced the metal bit.
@teamsnazzygoat5 жыл бұрын
If you like how-to manuals, we have a little booklet that outlines the whole training process that we use, available here (it's written for goats, but it may still help with sheep): teamsnazzygoat.webs.com/book-shop

Maybe with 4 goats you can carry more weights on the cart. still faster than say... human walking.
@teamsnazzygoat5 жыл бұрын
Yes! Goats can pull up to 1.5 times their own weight, so more goats definitely means more pulling power. :-)
@withastickangrywhiteman28225 жыл бұрын
@@teamsnazzygoat That was beautiful when you were driven that cart. But would you consider of using more power goats? Such as this one kzbin.info/www/bejne/d3LQlIOdZ8hqa6c Very friendly to humans they said you can ride on it and using its ears to control direction. LOL
