Sven is such an inspiration!! He is truly a special person and he doesn't need to be. I met him a Mont-Sainte-Anne at the World Cup in 2017. Sven and Boris were taking pictures of the Videotron jump and I was standing on the first jump of the last double before the finish. They were behind me and asked me if I could step back a bit. I did. They shot some riders, and then asked me to step back again. More shots, and finally they asked if I could step back again. I replied "If I step back again, I am going to fall off of this jump", they both laughed and said it was ok. They came over after being done and asked if I was getting good shots. I said no, because I suck. They laughed. I mentioned I had rented the camera package to shoot the World Cup. Sven took my rental camera and checked out my settings and made changes. Told me to hold down the autofocus button and I should be good to go. Neither Boris or Sven needed to help me, but they did. In 2018 they remembered me, and I got to shoot in the media zone without credentials, and they had me hang out after the downhill finals in the media room. I got to share my photos. Last year I was included in the VitalMTB slideshow, and I can't wait to see them both at some point this year. I just shoot for fun, but they made me feel pro. All the best to Shimoda, Sven, and Boris. I hope to have my own gear this year!! Including the Action X.
