Team TS9M CE MultiNorm CB radio - service alignment

Here is a 2012 radio kindly donated to this channel by a viewer. Thank you.
I've not seen a TS9M before. Other than the microphone plug needing rewiring the radio was able to be tuned up to 4W (was 3W as presented). when switched to AM on CEPT channels the AM modulation needed to be reduced. I'll do a video in the not too distant future on what happens if AM modulation is too high. The set worked out to have incredible receive sensitivity at around 0.22uV on FM.

Hi Richard just to make a suggestion, is it possible to make a video explaining the different radio related terms you often use, things like dectector, IF, VCO, front end etc etc and also why is it a problem if a squelch never opens? I've never used a radio with the squelch set to full so why is it such a problem? Thank you

Yes I can do that. If you want to restrict range & set the squelch to full (so you don't here other than local radio traffic).....and the squelch never ever opens; well you'll never hear anything. Here is an example:- You have farm vehicles loading & unloading in a yard. There is a base station in a portacabin. The guy in the portacabin only wants to hear the people working in the yard on the CB. He doesn't want to hear hobbyists waffling. He can turn the squelch to full knowing that any signal over S9 (100uV) will come through his radio. He changes radio & at full, the squelch never opens. Until he learns what squelch setting he needs the radio at, he's faffing around & missing messages. Not all CB users want the squelch at threshold. Richard, G0OJF, UK
