Their starter sets are always pretty solid value. Good presentation and had to get myself one halfway through. I hope you chaps will do some battle reports for this.

It's a BMP-3 with the 100mm gun from the T55. That gives it a hard smack.

@@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall Yup, pretty scary. I haven't picked up the book yet but I'm looking forward to it. I imagine that the BMP3 is a holy terror for anything short of an MBT and even they should be nervous if they get on its flank.

My hesitancy is the T-64 and the M-60s. Had the box been 4x M1 4x Bradley Vs. 4x T-80 4x BMP I'd be all over it, probably buy 2 of them!

Nice unboxing, looks like decals have to be bought separately, that would be about 16 more Euros for 2 sets.

15mm/1:100. However aircraft models are 1:144

I just got this yesterday, along with the Soviet T-80 Shock Company army box. Together they make a great army. The US side of the starter was not as impressive - you can build the M1A1 but a card should have been included - the basic M1 or IPM1 can't stand up to a T-80. And the Pattons are only really useful to a USMC player as far as I can tell, I'd have liked to see something different there but I can't think of what. Still, you absolutely can't beat the value!

A good bang for the buck as starter sets go, but where are the Infantry
@rcgunner70864 жыл бұрын
Yup, the US needs grunts to keep the whole formation from being swept away by last stand rolls. IIRC, US infantry is still metal these days. To my knowledge, BF hasn't made a starter with metal figures- just plastics.

Huh.. so you have to wreck your box to get the counters and objective markers? An effective use for the box I guess, but cutting them out must be a real pain. I would prefer the cardboard counter sheet personally, but then again I hear that cardboard is getting expensive.
@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall4 жыл бұрын
Well, that's if you want tokens without spending more money. BF just announced the return of the dice tins with some snazzy TY ones, but they run 20US for each faction.

@@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall True. I really enjoyed the cardboard ones that came with the starters like Open Fire. I use them for all things Flames. I guess I was hoping for more cardboard tokens to add to my stash.

I like the idea of this game but most of the battle reports I've seen are basically two car parks lobbing shells at each other.
@rcgunner70864 жыл бұрын
Nah, I've played the game and it's a blast. 6' by 4' gives you a lot of room and the points values keep you from fielding masses of US tanks. So I find myself with a single platoon of Abrams supporting a mech company going up against a short Soviet battalion with maybe a couple of tank/BMP "companies" (really 5 vehicle platoons). Flames of War is a lot worse about the hub to hub motor pool rumbles.
@AllMiniaturesGreatandSmall4 жыл бұрын
It's all in how you play, if you play 100 points and take 30+ BMPs then yeah, the battlefield will be tight. Ultimately it comes down to you and your opponent and how you want to play.
@rcgunner70864 жыл бұрын
A seven tank company? Meh! Last stand rolls will wipe 'em out. IIRC, that's one in the company CP, and 2 vehicles in each platoon. : / Very meh! Nice deal though, but you're going to want at least two of them to make a decent company. Still, $100 for two very solid formations isn't too bad. Edge to the Soviets if they have T80s while the US is soldering on with the basic M1.

It is a starter set rather than an "army" box. It is excellent for $50, can find for cheaper online/some retailers as well.

Hmm, probably an hour to figure out the first one, once you've got that one figured out maybe 10-15 minutes per model.
