Me too. I binge watch when I don't have anything to do his clips. And I knew from those clips that he prefers having dinner with the hosts first before showing to their late night shows
@zachmartin14582 жыл бұрын
@Zach Thompson Sinatra said he was having dinner and Don asked him to come by his table to say hi so Don's date would be impressed. Sinatra agreed and when he said hello Rickles replied "Frank, can't you see we're eating?" What an animal.

The fact that Don and Robin Williams never got a Mark Twain Prize for American humor is and always be a tragedy. Don honed and perfected insult comedy. Years ago I was requested that my wife and I take a key business partner out for the evening. He was a Brit and lived and worked on the island of Jersey off the coast of France. We took him to a dinner and show at a big night club near Camden NJ. The show headliner was Don Rickles. Well this was the late to mid sixties and Don was at his raunchest. He targeted the leader of the orchestra and even at one point goosed him on stage. The lead in too Rickels act was the singer Bobby Vinton. After the evening ended, the Brit gentleman turned to me and said he enjoyed the singer, but that the "other guy" was too crude. So Don even made me laugh after the show.... RIP Don, you were really great.

Sometimes people say in comments that Greg Geraldo was the best insult comic ever. I always disagree. Because he wasn't. Greg was great, but not the best. Jeffrey Ross is better. But Jess isn't the best either. It was Don Rickles: He was the best. Besides that their was Milton Berle, who might have been the best, even over Don Rickles. The problem is most people are ignorant. They don't know history in general or the history of anything specifically including comedy. They don't know Laurel and Hardy, Red Skelton, Henny Youngman, Red Buttons, etc. They're young, inexperienced, not wise, have a very limited perspective. You know, all the things that come with being young, gullible and naive. I know it's true cause I was young too. I miss Greg, he was excellent, but I'm sure Greg would agree with me as Jeff essentially said, the master of comic insult was Don.
