And most of the streets in the Alphabet District inspired characters on the show, streets like Flanders, Lovejoy, Kerney, and Burnside. The best part about living in Portland as a Simpsons fan is that the city is divided into quadrants, the Columbia river divides the east/west, and Burnside divides north/south. Every street tells you which part of the city you're in, so every street sign will have SE/NE/SW/NW in front of the name. Flanders street runs east to west, so there's NW Flanders and NE Flanders. I kid you not, literally every single NE Flanders street sign, and there are hundreds of them, has been vandalized to say NED Flanders.
