@toeupfromtheflowup46910 жыл бұрын
As an actor myself so can tell you the reason he was good is because he wasn't even acting. He was so thrown into the fire he was overwhelmed and those emotions made it seem like a reality experience. I can guarantee you if he gets a non Somali pirate role he will be mediocre and that's a stretch. I like the guy don't get me wrong. On the other hand his angry friend was incredible. He was good. The taller angrier guy was better. That's just fact.
@why260710 жыл бұрын
ToeUp FromTheFlowUp Everyone's opinion is important, however, I can't agree with you that the taller, angrier pirate (Faysal Ahmed) was better than Barkhad. I thought all the Somali actors did an outstanding job but Barkhad really was quite terrific. He gave the role a complexity and vulnerability and I sure hope he is more than mediocre in any future roles that he has - I guess we will just have to wait and see. As far as Faysal Ahmed goes, if I had to pick a weak link in the Somali performances, it would be his. He started off high-pitched and incredibly angry and had no where to go but up - heading towards the over-the-top territory. There didn't seem to be as much complexity or nuance to his performance compared to Barkhad's. Don't get me wrong, I still think he was very effective and I really hope he gets some good roles too, but, to me, Barkhad was the standout. That's just my fact.

The biggest compliment I can pay Barkhad Abdi is that it didn’t even seem like he was acting. He was real. The way he spoke, the way he stood, the way he ruffled his beard after first seeing Tom as Captain Phillips…. It was all completely natural seeming so much so that it just felt like he’d jumped on the movie set as a real life pirate and got on with it. Absolutely incredible.

danyellwar77 He was paid far more than dollars for his film debut, he has gone from limo driver/ cell phone salesman to film actor with a very promising career and on his very first attempt at acting. His future is one that ANY actor would give anything for. This role was his E-ticket into the world of fame and fortune. Sorry to say, but you don't start out at top pay scale or any where near top pay on your first paying acting job. You have to prove yourself and you have to be able to bring in paying customers to see your films. $65K for your first acting job and 3 months work is pretty damn good.

Barkhad and all of the other actors who played the Somali pirates were amazing. They all really made the scenario feel so real. Props to them all for their amazing performance even this long after the movie was released because them being remembered even now shows how good they were!

He deserved WAY MORE than the $65,000 the film company paid him for this role. He was robbed. So talented!

Never acted before. Why would they pay him more? Everyone has to start somewhere.
@itgirlkani9227 ай бұрын
@@youlikeitiloveit3747 wym? he was the one of the star actors just because he is new means he should be paid less than what he deserves? tom hanks were paid 15M that is not fair at all.
@youlikeitiloveit37477 ай бұрын
@@itgirlkani922 How’s that not fair? Tom is one of the biggest names on the screen. You have to earn that money.
