I always liked the take from Joel Morris, a British comedy writer, who pointed out PERFECTLY to me what the tension was that created the atmosphere of Python. It wasn't a collaboration. It was a rivalry between two sides in the troupe. Oxford vs Cambridge. Terry Jones was head of the Oxford portion of the troupe and Cleese the Cambridge. It's an OLD toff laden rivalry. Also, Idle shook up Footlights in Cambridge by letting women finally join in 1965. Before then, it was men only. I like that Eric Idle fact

Him doing all the great sketches of Python live with other British comedians whom I didn't know, but nonetheless were there to flesh out the scenes like the four Yorkshiremen,Parrot Sketch,Spam, etc. And a few musical numbers such as Always Look on the Bright Side of Life which had the crowd singing and whistling throughout. So glad he's still with us. It felt like seeing a solo George Harrison show who had just passed the year before. I was about 10 rows from the stage so it was great to be that close to my Idle. For one thing I think Eric was tweeting this because sadly its only such news that gets media attention, which it did. David Gilmours wife writes a nasty tweet about Roger Waters and its fodder for months. He had a book coming out so I wonder if it was just to get the media attention which sadly only focuses on drama and not creativity. He also might be a bit miffed that he hardly hears from them anymore. That video of him and John on Australian television is just gold "I did notice that it was making fun of an infirmity, the deaf" John: "Well I'm deaf and I found it funny". Eric "well you farging wrote it". Its clear they had a gas together, but it didn't last. But Twitter is a real beast for that. Sometimes people write crap without even thinking, or just keep rambling on. And of course its likely there are about ten thousand tweets but we only ever hear about one.

Neither Eric's 1970s/80s/90s accomplishments nor those of the other Pythons are diminished by it but it's such a shame that the Pythons are at each others throats over money - well Eric vs the others. From the outside we can't separate truth from opinion. Eric recently accused Michael Palin of no longer being nice because of these business problems. But here he says he hasn't seen him for 10 years...and Michael's wife has recently died. It's hard to know what to believe. To quote Eric's friend George Harrison 🎶 Isn't it a pity/Isn't it a shame 🎶 He certainly has not much good to say about Gilliam or Gilliam's daughter, Holly, who he blames for all this which doesn't quite tally with his "There's no right or wrong way to do business". Tho that's understandable, he's not going to want to slag them off on a podcast! (Just on social media haha) It would be nice if they could get together and sort it out, I'm sure that even at their age it would be possible to get on, y'know, a plane and see each other face to face.

Headphones in a situation like this are optional, but usually you get a bit of your own audio in your headphone mix (along with everyone else’s voices) so you can hear live how well you’re being picked up by the mic, if you’re being too loud, too close, etc. and make adjustments.

Without Monty Python... there's no Second City, there's no SNL, there's no Kids in the Hall, there's no Mr Show, there's no In Living Color, there's no Chappelle Show, there's no Who's Line is it Anyway, etc etc etc

So apparently the disagreement is over whether to continue using the manager they had back in the old days, or use Terry Gilliam's daughter, and the rest of the surviving Pythons think she's doing a swell job and I guess Eric would rather not change horses so close to the end of the race, as it were. I don't really get how that's worth fighting over, can't they use different managers? it's not like they're doing anything in particular _together_ anymore.

Eric Idle is a true master. David Frost was totally useless as a comic. Pretty much nothing funny about David frost, but that is what got him serious interviews e.g. Nixon.

The Holy Grail is by far the funniest movie ever been produced,

Unfortunately John Cleese has more and more become a git. That doesn't take away from his past as a comedic genious, it's just the person he has turned into, the nasty bitter old man whom they used to make fun of. And I imagine a lot can be attributed to poor martrimonious choices. If he is so unable to retain a partner, he shouldn't have married in the first place.

It has always been assumed that Idle is the bad guy in all of this, but perhaps he isn't. I really don't know and I don't think any of us do. The two smartest guys in the group are no longer with us so we may never know.

Rutland Weekend Television for the win. Rutland 5-0 from downtown... Biggleswade. Rest in peace Neil Innes. There are no coincidences, but sometimes the pattern is more obvious.

I always thought while watching the show for many years and of course the movies the two real leaders of the Python group were John Cleese and Eric Idol, because Graham Chapman… He wasn’t really that funny to be honest but the other ones were carrying the whole show
