I know Rogan's podcast has reach, but this is an insane take. Julian is the son of one of the most famous people to have ever walked the earth, even if we're thinking about reaching a younger audience, people still learn about The Beatles and that inevitably leads you to their story and families. Julian would be known to more people worldwide than Joe.

It's so cool seeing Julian here, he was a significant figure in my life as a child. Knowing some of his story, helped me deal with my own father/family issues, if nothing else, I didn’t feel so alone. As a child my mother was OBSESSED with the Beetles. When Julian came out with his own music career, I was about 11yrs or so, I always felt more of a "kinship" with Julian, not because I had a famous father or anything, but because I too came from a divorced family with siblings whom received more from their father than I did from the same father...among other things. I know he won't see this, but thank you for being open about your life. The bravery it took to tell people your beloved father wasnt the saint they pictured. Thank you for being an inspiration for me, Julian, you've been one of the few whom I could look to when I felt lost during those times.

How he is with Sean Lennon and Yoko Ono 5. If he gets on well with the other Beatles Children But apart from those already juicy questions with great answers... He's lived longer than his dad, he has a mature understanding on how it feels to be famous and yet NOT famous at the same time, and he has stories of his music career that would make any interviewer blush with excitement to hear about! I remember standing at the bar with Carlos at my friend’s wedding reception talking about his time working with you. He couldn’t say enough about what a talented musician and wonderful human being you are. My best wishes to you in all your endeavors. And as they say in your home country, Happy Christmas.
@decolonizeEverywhere11 сағат бұрын
I think the reason why they turn him down is because an in-depth conversation with the first son of John Lennon may disabuse them of the idea that John Lennon was something more than just a human being. We all want to remember John Lennon for his music and his activism, but we have to not put blinders on and turn him into a untouchable idol. I think there are just too many people out there who don't want to be reminded of John Lennon's Humanity by looking into the eyes of his forgotten son.

John Lennon was one of the most transformative figures in one of the most transformative eras of modern history-the 1960s. This was a decade where culture underwent a seismic shift, moving from a rigid, conservative framework to a more liberal, progressive ethos. Lennon didn’t just live through this transformation; he was at the very heart of it, helping to shape and accelerate the changes that defined the era. His evolution as an artist and individual mirrored the broader cultural revolution. From the polished “moptop” of the early Beatles, whose music fit neatly into the conservative norms of the early ’60s, to the outspoken, rebellious artist of the late ’60s and beyond, Lennon became a symbol of change. He embodied the move away from conformity toward self-expression, questioning authority, and embracing a more open, experimental way of thinking and living. You can agree or disagree with his politics, which shifted and evolved over the years, but you cannot deny his greatness. Lennon was more than a musician, he was a cultural icon who used his platform to challenge societal norms, advocate for peace, and spark conversations that many were afraid to have. He wasn’t perfect, and he never pretended to be. It was his authenticity-his mix of intelligence, vulnerability, wit, and raw emotion, that made him so compelling. Naturally his children will look small in his shadow, but they´ve obviously had amazing opportunities as well. Sean just won an Oscar, and is nominated for a Grammy, managing his fathers legacy.
@Mike128493 сағат бұрын
Agreed. But I hope you aren’t inferring that Julian simply hasn’t managed his fathers legacy as well as Sean has. The emotional abuse and rejection that John subjected Julian to should not be underestimated.

I was offered jobs at Warner, Disney, Sony, Epic, Atlanta, Fox, CBS when I was 16-18. Refused them. I was in a Got Milk? Commercial. That was the last time I used nepotism for work in Hollywood. If you read this far: You have to go outside your father's network. Try to interact with the complete opposite (safely) your father would. For me, it was Gays, Street Thugs, and Female/Male Rights activists. You have to make your own network or they'll always keep you as "his son" and not Boss.

He's chill, but a slow storyteller.

Listen to Julian's "Lucky Ones" on KZbin. Julian's a much better songwriter than John ever was. John practically disowned Julian. He wasn't going to leave him any money. Yoko didn't want Julian to get anything from his father's estate .Not sure how it all worked out. John Lennon was famous but not a great man. He was telling everyone to give up their possessions while he was a multi-millionaire living lavishly.

Don't feel bad dude. I've wrote three metal albums in the last two years no one gives a F about. People aren't into music anymore if it isn't some form of rap or hiphop. It killed all other music.

Plenty of non hip hop bands are out their touring and have people listening to their music. People are just not interested in YOUR music.

I think when Julian meets people today they are like “ho hum” that he’s John Lennon’s kid He can chill and not worry about people trying to use him

Hey Julian, do you remember Rob? He certainly remembers you and often talks about you. He hasn't been doing too well, in and out of mental health facilities. Maybe you could check in on him, it would mean the world to him.

The difference between a star and a superstar is called marketing. Julian and his father were both fine people. The system did the rest.

Many people would argue that John was NOT such a nice guy, despite his immense talent. Julian seems, in fact, to be much easier to deal with than his father.

@ True. John lived in a much different social climate. Julian was lucky to live between the chaos of the 60s and 70s and the chaos of the 2000s which is still ongoing.

He looks him the most and is seen as the bastard son. It must be a sad life not getting a chance to shine.

I've always liked his work def underappriciated for his talent. John Lennon was who he was but if you compare them as men Julian I think anyone would admit without having him in his life turned out to be a great human being

Just saying in Australia we don’t have white swans. White swans are a northern hemisphere bird. Our swans are black. It could’ve been a cockatoo feather.

3 first names? Please don’t do that to your child people. 1 is enough, 2 is okay, but 3 is too much.

I always wondered why Paul sang Hey Jude instead of John…but I guess it’s sadly obvious.

The walls are probably elite ones. The sentiment that "This guy didn't earn his celebrity status, he's only famous because of his name." I could see arrogant celebrities, agents, and others feeling like he doesn't belong. I don't agree with the sentiment at all. just saying where the walls are likely coming from. He had two hit songs that cracked the Top Ten on the Billboard but maybe they feel like he's washed up too. But that's the Music (and Movie) Industry. Having talent doesn't mean you're not a jerk.
