These actually were really basic tricks you can learn in a few hours. Also this is a Balisong trainer which means it isn't sharp and you can't hurt yourself

Butterfly knives were my generations fidget spinner. Fun side note last I checked it may have changed. Oregon and Oklahoma are the only two states they are legal in

The best I can figure, your fun side note was never correct. For instance, I bought my first one in Massachusetts in the early 1980s and believe they are still legal there. Oh, there was a beautiful Damascus tanto (before everything was Damascus) with rose wood handles at the Chesapeake in Quinzy Mahket. I think they wanted $400 for it. You know, I think it might have been a Benchmade. And the charts and tables available now suggest standard USA hodgepodge but broadly legal as of 2024.

Butterfly knives have a single edge, so the secret to doing those flashy moves is to hold the half handle so when you flip it closed the cutting edge won't be in contact with your fingers.

Some butterfly knives have a single edge. There's more to it than holding the "safe" handle. That isn't really "the secret" it's more like "basic duh". Like "the secret to beating Arnold Palmer at golf is to hold the club by the grip and swing it." Been a long time, but iirc, Imada either states or clearly suggests that if you're any good at it, the blade typically isn't touching you anyway.

I also learned how to show off with a butterfly knife as a teen, its pretty easy. I just used it and you feel how easy you can do crazy stuff with it but yeah be carefull because its still a sharp blade. Start slow and go faster if you are feel confident enough.
