I can definitely confirm this statement 😂 I grew up in his hometown and nearly everybody back in Germany speaks at least fluent English and most people can even speak it like their mother tongue so i have no doubt at all that he would be able to talk with a way less concise accent...

It's more like one out of ten speaks english that well. My father is one for example. But that's because he had excellent english teachers in grammar school who taught them how to speak queens english back in the 1960s. I still find using the correct tenses hard and have to learn a lot of words. Regardless of that got As and Bs only in 11. grade. So nope it's not that easy for every German.

He has this unparalleled ability to make it appear like he's semi-clueless by using slightly unusual words to describe things, but, in retrospect, as he's so consistently good at it, it's clear he has deliberately chosen his words perfectly to maximize hilarity.
