Flula is low key excellent at English. He intentionally hams it up. You have to be very good to be able to improvise that quirky style because what he is basically doing is listening keenly in English and then running that thorugh his "German Nerd" processor for a potential joke heavily reliant on the reaction of the straight man, all the while concentrating on giving his bits the proper accent. I have little doubt that he is an expert on linguistics. This iteration of the character doesn't work on a native German with a limited grasp on English but he's funny to Americans.

I think German people are unintentionally hilarious. They have a sort of subtle humor. Flula is kind of in a league of his own though.

There is actually a German word for this: Vergangenheitbewältigung. This roughly translates to "coming to terms with the past". Germans look at German history head-on and don't pretend nothing happened. Flula is absolutely correct and he's my favorite Conan guest 100%

There is also another term for this: Being indoctrinated into having a severe guiltcomplex that leads to absurd virtue signalling. Today you learned.
@justicartiberius87825 жыл бұрын
@@juhumamamam3768 Unfortunately that's quite true. "Vergangenheitsbewältigung" was never meant so the germans can come to terms with the past, it was more like a description of the germans giving up their heritage so other nations and people could come to terms with germany and the germans. We see what this got us into these days. 1/4 of the population in germany isn't german, many germans hate themselves and the past, the german culture is in fast decline while other cultures are replacing it. Especially the big cities are not really german anymore. So in the end we never came to terms with the past, we are destroying ourselves to make up for something the current generations never were responsible for.

I've enjoyed every video I've watched him in. I also like when Conan starts to ask the question "Do you ever get insulted-" and Flula quickly interrupts with "Yes." This is something you don't see a lot, most people participate in the standard back-and-forth of host and guest, but Flula plays by his own rules.

My favorite german movie title translation has to be "Away from her" which we translated to "An ihrer Seite" which means "At her side" - genius. :)

"The perks of being a wallflower" - "Vielleicht lieber morgen" (Maybe rather tomorrow) Why not "Die Vorteile ein Mauerblümchen zu sein" or something similar. We even have the direct translation of wallflower as a real word in the german language. Why change a title, if it is translatable. While the direct translation of "Die hard" just sounds stupid in german (Stirb schwer/schwierig/...). So I think they were right with calling it "Stirb langsam".

Remember the 007 movie 'Tomorrow never dies'? German title was 'Der Morgen stirbt nie' - which means 'The morning never dies'

"die hard" ist nicht auf das Sterben/brutalen Tod bezogen, sondern wird eher wie "try hard" verwendet, im Sinne von "nicht totzukriegen", "nicht aufgeben", "um jeden Preis", "komme was wolle". "Auf Teufel komm raus" übersetzt man ja auch nicht wörtlich, sondern es entspricht dem "come hell or highwater".

The fun Thing tho as a German myself, i mostly grew up in Greece and bc of the Tourist miles, you'll have to learn english too. So i speak english since like before i was even able to read, means now for about 30 years and WE ALL SOUND LIKE THAT 😂😂😂😂 Whenever i feel dorky, I watch flula and instantly feel comfortable ❤ Wir lieben dich Flula 💋

Funny guy with a German accent... wow, this guy is hilarious! He should have his own show! I’ve been watching a German tv series “Alarm für Cobra 11 - Die Autobahnpolizei” (Alarm for Cobra 11 - The Highway Police) and all the bad guys (and gals) were German!

Never seen this guy b4 but he is very quick minded & quick witted in a very silly way, almost pythonesque ( which I absolutely love & adore❗ ) Why isn't this guy way more prominent now ❕❔Imagine how far he could go in TV & movies potentially ❗
