Bassoon is def a difficult instrument. Probably good to start with another woodwind first. Single reed (sax or clarinet) is a nice intro before double reed (Bassoon, English Horn, Oboe).

I wanted to learn the bassoon in 5th grade band, but I would've been the only bassoonist and it would've taken up another half hour of the music teacher's time once or twice per week to give lessons. He talked me into picking something else that other people were playing in band. I've always regretted not playing the bassoon.

hmm...most elementary beginning bands don't teach the bassoon. They make you learn clarinet or sax first & then later in middle school or even high school, have you switch to bassoon. That's probably why he talked you out of it.

Other comments say it was because zoom filters out loud sounds and a bassoon is a loud instrument. They probably adjusted levels during the break and that's why he was able to play for them later on in the episode.

I've produced music of a wiiide range of genres. Everything from orchestral hip-hop beats, to experimental electronic stuff to skate-punk jazz fusion.
