The very first two seconds of the opening is already gold -- if you miss either the landing spot (too far away from rajang or directly at it), or hit the wrong spot (peppo hit arm not head), you wont have time to sheath before 1st roar. As a result, most speedruners open the roar with foresight slash instead at cost of lower dmg

I sanded a bamboo into the shape of a sword and then sharpened it with my dad's grind stones. I used another bamboo and the sole of a sandal to make the grip and hilt. Then one day, while dumpster diving I found a crowbar. I spent two summers sanding it against the sidewalks and used a gear wheel at an abandoned construction site to grind the crowbar down into a sword. It was rough but it was a sword. I put an edge on it and once again used bamboo and a sandal sole for the grip and hilt.

Feels real bad that with long sword you can dodge pretty much any attack with a single move that also does damage but Lance gets absolutely destroyed by similar moves even with Guard lvl 5 and you lose your stamina. RIP Lance

He didn't get nerfed, this is HR so basically it's on ez mode. In World the "hard" hunts were tempered and arch tempered, then master rank came in Iceborne, which Rajang is at master rank. HR in world was ez mode too.

I turned 37 today. I know, I’m old. I used to play a lot of games but adulting made it impossible. The only game I play now is monster hunter. The only reason I’d get a console is cause mh is coming out on that platform. I follow mh only cause I played the very first mh. There were no farms back then, you gather everything from quests. No trader no argosy no farm, you do it the hard way. First time I discovered Peppo was on his narg run video on mhgu valor style. Since then I’ve been watching Peppo videos to “git gud”. I started out using LS lots, then SA when it came out in mhtri, the cb when it came out in mh4. Watching Peppo videos made me go back to LS again. For those who think LS is OP, well let’s see you use it the way Peppo uses it. It’s been getting flack since Valor LS which even I admit is kind of broken but LS had been pretty stale for several installments. Valor LS was the update it needed to be interesting agaIn. I practiced mzitsune on mhrise demo so hard to get to somewhere kinda close to his level. I got to 4:35 which I thought was decent compared to his sub 3:54 which is nothing but amazing. I couldn’t come closer than within 2 mins of his magnamalo record though. If you wanna “git gud”, watch Peppo videos and practice lots. The point I’m trying to make is though... how in the hell do you do that fake downward diagonal slash going into a diagonal upper slash?!?!

I solo main insect glaive, after solo maining it in 4u and gu. The new airiel moveset (was it in world, eh, never played that game) is so much fun, I pretty much only go for aerial strong attack, unless the monster is toppled, in which case I go back to the xxa infinite.

It is the switch skill move you get from crafting several longswords. It replaces the overhead slash draw attack with a two-hit move that has s at the start.

Get the timing engraved into your muscle memory through practice. You can use the training area to practice too! Just talk to the palico and get the dummy to stomp or somethin. But its always good to practice in the field too, once you have a feel for where the i-frames are, its all about learning the timing of the monster’s attacks.

I think parrying is one of the best mechanism in action game history. It is a very strong feedback mechanism for the player. It perfectly represented the idea of "high risk with high reward". Moreover, It created a visual distinguishment between a pro and a noob

Because it's the smoothest weapon in the game. All the other weapons require constant movement, charging vials, switching modes, aiming, spinning, etc. Long Sword is just pure slashing, with the occasional wire bug attack, and maybe running every now and then. It's just beautiful to watch. I say this as a Charge Blade main.

I believe that was intentional. Likely to draw out a longer range attack to counter. I've seen speed runs do that type of thing, so it's not unheard of. I could be wrong though.
