Mostly because he wants to repent for the many innocent mortal lives he's taken, and for the lives vampires he created had taken. Anderson gave up his humanity by spiking himself, which made Alucard sad that he'd give up his humanity.

Hell quakes in fear when any of their names are called. What makes Hellsing Abridged so much greater than other parodies is it is not just a parody. It is still true to the story and the characters, just flipped upside down. We still learn the actual tale, just with a more insane, humorous colour to it.

Alucard understood Anderson's motivations all too well, he didn't hate him. Having seen the worst of humanity, he knew that he was simply misled. When he destroyed what he had become after taking in the nail that had impaled Jesus, he was doing so because he had to, not because he wanted to. I think Alucard as he's depicted and I share the same view when it comes to religion; we hate those that twist words to use people and to slay in the name of scripture, not the people that are tricked themselves.

I was listening to Alexander Anderson perhaps more times than is healthy And I noticed a couple interesting differences between it and the opening song of Hamilton The most obvious one is how both songs end. Hamilton ends with a big, triumphant, orchestral explosion, because it starts the story. Even though it's kind of Shakespearean in that it tells you how the story ends ("His enemies destroyed his rep, America forgot him"/"And me? I'm the damn fool that shot him"), it's still getting you excited for the story to come. Anderson, on the other hand, just ends on that final, solemn chime and then silence. It's a death knell. Because the story is over. Alexander Anderson is done. The second is the way people are singing about them. In Hamilton, everyone has a measure of respect to their voice when they recount Hamilton's life. From his rival Aaron Burr to his friend John Laurens, to his enemies James Madison and Thomas Jefferson. They respect Hamilton's drive, his motivation, his accomplishments. Anderson? That respect isn't really there. Even Alucard just seems to feel sorry for him at best, openly mocking his faith and his sacrifice at the end and how it accomplished nothing. Pip and Seras are smug in their dismissal of him, Maxwell is *annoyed* that he's been murdered, The General finds the suffering and destruction both experienced and caused by Anderson to be *amusing.* The only ones who really speak of Anderson with any warmth or kindness are his Iscariots. For all his fighting, all his suffering, all his struggles and triumphs in the name of his God, Alexander Anderson has *nothing* to show for it. The show even scrunched up his climactic battle with Alucard, for which he was willing to throw away his own humanity, as nothing more than a protracted annoyance for the King of Memes. He's a very tragic character.

My favorite part was right after this. Satan saying, "That was a pretty good deal Alucard." That one gets me. The being whose struggle to climb back to heaven keeps the bellows on the flames of hell, the one being who is cursed beyond the betrayers, watches his most loyal monster turn down an offer he has been waiting for eternally. It gives the show a lot of depth. The fallen angel got to watch God give one of his only friends a ticket to heaven. When Alucard declined, Satan must have been so pissed that he didn't get that offer.

William Halter he disgraced the remains of my enemy, the remains of a man that did as he believed was right. With it was right or not, I know not, but I know he did it with loyalty, strength, determination and most importantly with his all. He was devoted unfaulteringly to his beliefs and fought to the very end to defend them and the people that were within those beliefs. Alexander means protector of the people and that is what he did to the last second. He compromised only one belief and that was the final one. By definition he was a martyr and through this he failed. Which only showed how human he really was. Walter disgraced the remains of such a man.
