how do you adapt the chasis so you can install coilovers on the rear ?
@BlakesGarage9 жыл бұрын
Great topic I have always wondered what kind of setup you guys run on rally cars.
@petrsulc11684 жыл бұрын
Just FYI, the fact that the aftermarket is much beefier is not only due to durability, but also due to "bad" design. For MacPherson stut you need to have the spring offset to the damper axis to lower the additional forces on the strut (force must aim in the middle or near the middle of contact patch). But if you design spring that way, only one ride height is right, also you would not be able to use those springs and dampers on other vehicles. So for this type of suspension the bad way is the only way.

Hello, I have a 2002 WRX and I do autocross/track/ and want to do a few rallycross events. What would be a good all round suspension.

For gravel what spring rates are generally used? Softer, close to oem or stiffer?
@Teamoneilrally5 жыл бұрын
Typically stiffer than stock for gravel

Where did you guys get those camber inserts?

How much does a front and rear suspension for the fiesta cost from reiger (I couldn't find it on their site)? Could you use the same suspension parts on fiesta sedan as fiesta hatch if you have the same application?
@ShaneNayani8 жыл бұрын
for the fiesta the Riegers should be some where around $8 - $12K

I have a question, I couldnt find an answer on google. Do WRC cars buy a specific brand of suspension(and wich one) or do they make their own?
@Teamoneilrally5 жыл бұрын
Most of the teams run Reiger suspension these days, check out kzbin.info/www/bejne/fIrFfp5rZcaqhZI

what's the advantage to having the spring and the damper separate?
@trykozmaksym7 жыл бұрын
Douglas Brenner, good point about misalignment... that really confused me when I was about to change the spring on my bike's shock and it didn't look straight :)
@urmumgay57984 жыл бұрын
Costs (shorter spring) and probably space saving

The camber washers can they be place backwards. Like I want positive instead of negative.

That kw product you know it’s going to be the best of the best, nothing can compete with the quality and ride quality of the kw coilover set up, there v3 or competition build set up and the best of the best, thus the high dollar value, I have been running kw for years in all my race cars, my 2001 mustang gt turbo street car 1080hp wheel runs kw custom made Competition coilovers with 3 stage adjustability

So, race suspensions are similar to USD Forks on superbikes ?
@Benedocta7 жыл бұрын
No. USD forks are mainly about reducing unsprung weight and improving stability of the triple clamp.
@trykozmaksym7 жыл бұрын
Why not? Performance bikes require more than just lower unsprung weight and rigidity - that's why USD also have all the settings talked about in this video. Nobody bothers putting this expensive stuff into cheap conventional forks.

What floor jack and axle stands are those in the background holding up the white Fiesta?
@DRIFTWORKSINC9 жыл бұрын
+vVeazel I was looking at that too just now, Want to fab the same thing for my subaru
@vVeazel9 жыл бұрын
+TeamONeilRally Thank you for the response! Was the jack purchased at any particular place? I looked around locally (Canada) and didn't find anything quite like it. The low profile and long reach are just what I need - it looks just right without being over the top. Cheers!

Is it possible to use stock suspension? I have a 99 Civic I want to start rallying in nothing serious.
@Benedocta7 жыл бұрын
I think apart from safety equipment, suspension, wheels and tires are most important modifications. If you're not in the position to spend that kind of money, you probably shouldn't rally... You can try motocross or enduro instead, its cheaper, you just pay with more injuries ;D

if you didnt work at a rally school and cant get reigers or afford them what would be your entry level recommendation? Ksport, D2, BC... made in china
@DKlegacyRS4 жыл бұрын
I have D2 on my rally car, there are a bit on stiff side, and not a lot of suspension travel for bumpy roads. But ok for tarmac rally. Im looking at some Bilstein B14 to replace them.

is it possible to find any rally dampers for a 7-9 evo for under 1000$?
@gro_skunk7 жыл бұрын
Jasons Ernests Mazkalnins suspension isn't something you want to skimp on, 2-3k is the butter zone of high quality rally dampers
