I ran XYZ monarchs when it was top tier and topped UK nationals with it in 2016. It's my favourite deck of all time and I've still got most of the cards. I'm just happy that I'll be able to go to locals and mess around at a competitive level without having to break the bank.

I’m really surprised to see a monarch deck without tenacity. It’s like running 3 extra copies of whatever you need at that time. Plus if you go pantheism when you have Tenacity in your hand you you run 2 of something like return, you can reveal 2 return and erupt/Stormforth/escalation or whatever you need at that time and then use the tenancy for whichever one you didn’t get. I seem to be the only player who has 2 Danger! Dogman since it has 2400/1000 and gives a great consistency boost on top of giving me tribute fodder or even just a body on the board because monarchs to brick a LOT regardless of your build. I feel like running 5 tribute fodder monsters just won’t be enough to get by even with 3 prime because if you don’t draw it you have to get prime to the GY. I’ll count prime as 1 tribute fodder since it can only be used once per turn. Plus one4one and ROTA, you have 7 tribute fodder in your deck while you run 11 monsters to tribute summon. That gives you a 63.6% chance of drawing into a monarch instead of tribute fodder. Not just for each card but in your opening hand. Granted, you have 3 consistency cards but I feel like this deck just isn’t gonna be consistent enough (talking about first turn plays since that’s the best way to shut down your opponent).

Only downside of setting up monarchs is you cannot be negated AT ALL. A single Imperm can force you to ass turn with a squire on the field and nothing else while they set their board up.

Go for whatever is an issue in your meta. Sideboard stapkes that can never do you wrong are evenly matched/dark ruler no more/forbidden droplet. For this deck side boarding Majesty Fiend/ a third The Monarch Erupt can be useful too. Lava Golrm/Ra - Sphere mode are also good. But you don't really wanna go second with this deck. Soooo do you man. Do some games with friends/ your meta and then build your side board

there is actually a niche tech 4 monarchs. you can play seleglare (ROTD UR). He has 2400 ATK and 1000 DEF. You can special it with ehther. and he can steal cards. try it
