If I could just give one piece of advice, it’s that it’s all just mental. I’ve seen guys who are fitness jocks but mentally, they’re beyond messed up. We had one guy who literally ran a 7 minute mile, but tried to get out by, I shit you not, cutting out a tattoo on his skin. Mentality people, be strong, and good luck !

Boy has everything changed! there’s only been a handful of things that even remotely look like the training we received, but I really like the training in basic that the army has transitioned to.

You can def go on Sundays and they might be able to accommodate you on Saturday’s to do your worship/service. They’re really good at making sure you get your religious services. @@TEAMSWARTZ I had a difficult conversation with my son yesterday and need your advice. He’s thinking of quitting but he’s really sick, most of his platoon is. I told him not to quit, he’s just really sick and we can talk about it when he’s feeling better. I think he will regret it if he gives up for many reasons. I want to keep pushing him but I don’t want him to stay if he is realizing the military isn’t for him. Do a lot of people go through this, sick or otherwise?

@@ImperfectlyPerfect33 It’s not uncommon for us to get sick. It happens when you have 60 people living together and that’s why we stress upon and make them sanitize & clean the barracks daily. Just keep being positive and uplifting and say things like I can’t wait to see you on graduation type of comments. The rest of his career won’t be like basic training. Problem is some trainees feel in these moments early on in training that the Army is like this the whole time. It’s just BCT and he’ll be fine. Part of being an adult is adapting, overcoming adversity and earning difficult things. Diamonds are created only under extreme pressure. He’s got this! Good luck and best wishes! 🙏🏽

I completed basic back in 2003, at 19 yrs old. I’m seriously considering joining the reserves at 39. I will have to redo basic, and I’m okay with that, although I am a bit apprehensive regarding the physical aspects. I don’t feel as flexible and strong as back in my 19/20’s. Have you done an updated 2021 yellow phase video? The one I find is from a few months ago. It sounded completely different from what my daughter told me in her letter. She is at Ft Jackson and coming to the end of yellow phase now. I suppose (according to this video) will start Red Phase on Sunday (day after tomorrow). I personally did BCT in 1982-a lot has changed but boy has some of this brought back memories. Is it weird that I can't wait for her to experience the Gas Chamber LOL. Rite of passage! I guess Forge is what we used to call "night maneuvers." My company never got to do the repelling and I was very upset about that. We had bayonet training and we had to qualify with the hand grenade. Do they still do that?

Yes, start by doing regular push ups until exhaustion, then drop to your knees or push off a wall or an object where you’re in an elevated position. I am prior service Army National Guard and I am debating if I want to go back in, because they want me to do basic all over again. I want to go full time, because my kids are all in college and now I am an empty nester. I have tried over the last 3 years to go back in, but the recruiters seem to ghost me or push me to the side. 3 years ago I was told I was would have to take a demotion from E-4 to E-1. I know that at the end of September, that the recruiting guidlines change and I tried to go back to see if the prior recruiting standards has change. I tried last year and the recruiter just ghosted me. Now, I am working with a recruiter and I filled out the huge application, gave them my NGB-22 and DD-214 and I haven't heard anything back. They keep texting about my 19 year old son, but when it comes to me, they keep saying that they are doing some kind of background check and will get back to me. It has been 3 weeks now and I have heard nothing back. Why does it seem like the recruiters doesn't like prior service soldiers and not give me a straight forward answer of rather or not I can get back in?

Did you disclose health issues or law violations or have something other than a completed service for discharge? Recruiters don’t ghost fully qualified applicants. Or are you going active duty in the regular army? They hate working Prior Service applicants and often times don’t get credit.
