I do appreciate that this list has games from many different eras and not just very recent games. It does seem that channels which review things like video games or technology in general never seem to reach back more than 3 or 4 years for lists like this. I've seen so many KZbin videos along the lines of "the best video games of all time" or "the worst tech products ever" but nothing before about 2016 is even mentioned. In other words, well done.

Scarface the game needs more love. It did have the major sticking point of no harming civilians, but it was still a really fun game that actually made you feel like a kingpin (taking over businesses that give you bonuses financially and with other skills, being able to call up pretty much any weapon or car to be delivered to you, explore a very detailed Scarface mansion that you can customize as you like) and much more. It also got back most of the original cast as well as adding James woods, Tommy Chong, Bam Margera and many others and has potentially had a better radio station soundtrack then any GTA game. The coke selling mini games are fun too to ensure that you can just go over to a guy and get money largely whenever for more Kingpin convenience.

I freaking love Deadly Premonition! Even the second one! Its really one of best stories in video games ever
@GeriatricFan19633 жыл бұрын
Eh, the second game isn't quite as satisfying IMHO. Feels like the story was a bit rushed, despite taking 10 years for the sequel to come out. I'm glad we got one, but the town of Le Carre kind of feels a little dead and too empty, whereas Greenvale in the first game felt much more alive to me, as whacky as the characters were they had routines, relationships with one another, clear motivations and histories you could uncover; even if you didn't explore very much, the game made you spend a lot of time getting to know them as suspects in the case, and whenever one of them became a victim you couldn't help but feel sorry for them, because Deadly Premonition did a really good job of making them feel like a living part of the game's world. What's more it is a great story that does a great job of keeping you guessing until the reveals at the end. DP2 does not have very much of this; York is given a sidekick to interact with, and she's awesome and bounces off of him really well. But the other residents of Le Carre, whilst they're definitely in keeping with the outlandish quirkiness of the first game, we never get to know or hang out with them as much before shit goes down; the only one I kind of cared about was Danny Clarkson, since he becomes much more sympathetic once York interacts with him. Characters start being killed off almost immediately after York arrives, and then York goes to the crime scenes and is basically shown what happened, rather than having to figure anything out himself. For me the story in the Le Carre section is also little too short because it climaxes too early, but I enjoyed the interrogation in the 2019 segments. (Even if they are a bit long and have maybe too much dialogue) DP2 recaptures the humour of the first game, and York is just fun to hang out with. But bizarrely the game just felt really unpolished overall, and the story and it's ending wasn't as earned or satisfying as the first game to me; in trying to be both a prequel and a sequel it doesn't really do either justice. IMHO Swery kind of overextended himself and his small indie dev studio trying to develop 3 different games at the same time, (The Good Life ended up being delayed and is still yet to come out) and it really shows that there must have been a lot of pressure to get DP2 out on time; the game being set in 2019 is kind of a giveaway to me that it was meant to come out a year earlier than it did, although they were pretty late announcing the release date.

I was expecting to see it, too. It's a brilliant game if it's played properly. I think the big problem is it's not obvious how to play it properly (pistols!) unless you do a little research first, so I suspect a lot of reviewers took a suboptimal path through no fault of their own.

seriously Alpha Protocol deserves a sequel with better combat....everything else worked well and was awesome but having to hold the aiming reticle over an enemy for an eternity in order to actually hit them made combat a clunky mess of bs ( if I'm literally right in the dude's face, HOW THE HELL DO I MISS? )
@yourgameisstupid3 жыл бұрын
@@newageBoundhippie "if I'm literally right in the dude's face, HOW THE HELL DO I MISS?" As far as I'm concerned, that's practically the difference between an RPG and an action game: that layer of abstraction between what you literally see and what's going on underneath the hood. It's easy to get past that abstraction if it's something blatantly abstract like, say, menu-based turn-based combat in old school Final Fantasy games. Doesn't work so well when the game has the presentation of an action game, however. (Morrowind for example has the same problem.) But yeah, playing the game with pistols and the chain shot ability pretty much bypasses that annoyance so you can focus on the good stuff. Didn't figure that out until my second playthrough, and I don't think I even made it through the first playthrough.

Spoiler ahead- I was quite irritated with how she buggered everything up for you at the end! @jamesnordberg93233 жыл бұрын
Shaq Fu's big problem is it's controls are horrific. It's very clear that the designers didn't understand why Mortal Kombat and Street Fighter are designed the way they are. Here's an example. In MK, to do a special move, you often have to do something like back, forward + punch. In SF it might be hold back for a second, forward + punch. In Shaq Fu it's back, forwards, nothing, run. There's a few big problems here. First is that forcing you to do nothing makes doing special moves take so long that they're almost worthless. Second, I didn't include a + on purpose, because if you don't do everything in order in Shaq Fu, you'll get the wrong move. You can't go from forward to neutral and run, you have to hit neutral first. Third is that this command involves the Run button, so if you screw up, you're going to helplessly run at the opponent and get hit. Lastly, the AI doesn't play by these rules, and has instant special moves that never accidentally become a run. So against the AI, special moves are borderline useless, but they'll spam them ruthlessly, and be very effective. This is just the start. Everything in Shaq Fu, from jumping, to blocking, to moving, to attacking, is designed very badly, with huge glairing flaws. Even other "bad" fighting games like Street Fighter the Movie and Star Wars Masters of Taras Kasi don't have these problems. Shaq Fu is definitely one of the worst fighting games ever made, and is a lot more well known then the few worse games, such as Rise of the Robots or Death Cargo.

Whoever was behind this script definitely either hasn't played Shaq Fu or just isn't a fan of fighting games so the reasons why it's hated were kinda lost on them.

As one whos mainly into fighting games: Shaq fu is just borderline unplayable competitive wise on a highly competitive genre (tournament fighters) for several gameplay mechanics flaws (Utterly delayed controls, really bad colision detection/hitboxes, 'Special' Bar hardly useless,etc). Not only that, but for casual players these flaws also make the game insanely difficult to beat against the AI. That pretty much sums up why it gets so much hate, especially from the fighting game community.

Dunno if "Sea of Thieves" deserves a re-examining without going back to the first patch-version, cause... releasing a full-price game with lackluster content, only to turn around and make it actually worth playing after the fact, doesn't mean the critics were "wrong." And saying it's fun to just hang out with friends and sorta casually play the game doesn't make it any more a "good game" than getting together with friends to watch "The Room" and laugh at it makes the room an "actually good movie." The rest of these seem incredibly apt, though. I'm not sure I'll ever get over the disappointment of Deadly Premonition 2 taking EVERY wrong lesson from the 1st one's reception that it possibly could have.

My friend loved that 1st Earth Defense force 😂. I thought it was alright, but he played that thing non stop. I let him borrow it and didn't see it for months.

Gundam Crossfire is like a Gundam Simulator where you can destroy individual limbs, upgrade and customize your mobile suits and you vet 2 campaigns (one for the „good guys“ and one for zeon) It‘s controls are janky and the game runs like shite but it‘s the only game that actually feels like the „real deal“ (you even got bullet drop) and not devil may cry with robots. If you love the „8th MS Team“ 90s Anime Series you‘ll love the atmosphere and game feel, everybody else will (probably rightfully) hate it lol.

At 6.42, "Ben and me" in this context, not "Ben and I". Do you write your own scripts?

Alpha Protocol is pretty bad on the surface, but if you overlook the bad aiming and out dated graphics, theres some fun to be had
