metal gear survive is so bad, i never even bought it, and yet i still feel like konami owes me a refund for it. its almost similar to number 10, where its a shitty game that they just slapped a popular franchise's name on the title and called it a day. it also didn't help that they tried to charge people real money just to unlock a second save slot

Even the devs hated TR: Angel of Darkness. There are tons of interviews where they straight up admit that it sucked and was horrible to work on. Same goes for TR: Chronicles. They didn't even want to make it, they were contractually obliged to produce a 5th game (despite having killed off Lara in the previous game) and no other studio they tried to outsource it to would take it on, so they had to just half-ass a compilation game on minimal resources. They even bundled the game engine and development tools with the PC version so much as to say "You want more Tomb Raider? Bloody make it yourself." XD A lot of people did, though, including me. There's still a big active community producing levels and even full games to this day.

First time I ever was exposed to anything Tomb Raider related was Angel of Darkness as a bloody DVD game. So needless to say, took me years to actually get into the franchise after that.

Fun fact, Aliens: Colonial Marines is as bad as it is because the coders made a typo. From my recollection, the aliens are meant to be attached to a "tether" to lead them through levels and to get them to attack players and stuff. Except in the code of the game, "tether" was misspelled as "teather", breaking the game.

This list focuses a lot on the previous 2 generations, and I've gotta say that while those games might have been terrible compared to their peers, most of these games have NOTHING on the sixth generation of consoles. Drake of The 99 Dragons? BMXXX? Fight Club? Say what you will about the games on this list, but most of them have the lessons of Resident Evil 4, God of War, and Halo somewhere in their DNA that makes them marginally playable. I'd rather play a game that scored 20% on metacritic in 2008 than a 60% in 2001, because they straight up didn't know what the fuck they were doing.

I'm surprised Balan Wonderworld didn't make the list. I'd replace Warcraft 3 with it. Don't get me wrong, Reforged is absolutely disappointing, but I wouldn't consider it "worst" anything. The game is still fun but in a "knock-off homemade version of the thing you really enjoy" kind of way. It's store-brand Warcraft 3, which is unbelievably disappointing because, well, Blizzard isn't store-brand anything.

The publisher was too busy getting it out because the licence they had was about to expire. So they pulled off the stunt of having buyers paying full price for a tutorial. Then the rest of the game was downloaded in the guise of a patch. I did not own this, but even I could see this was a scam...

Part of the reason Aliens Colonial Marines was so bad, is because the funding for it was embezzled for another game. Randy pitchford at gearbox studio, funneled most of the funds over to Borderlands 2. So they could make the game they envisioned. I'll take that trade personally

Can we stop the narrative about WWE 2K20 being one of the worst games ever made already? It's a lazy annual identikit wrestling game whose worst glitches have been ironed out a long time ago, and that's about it. It's perfectly playable a majority of the time, if not much else. It's not even the prime example of WWE game failure, as the Wii U version of 2K18 is one of the worst ports in history, and SvR 2008 and 2011 are unmitigated broken messes in their own right, if any patching work was ever done on any of them, the improvement is so marginal so as not to make a difference. Unimaginative dogpiling that defers to review aggregation scores is the level of zero effort I expect from 2K Games, not you guys.

The one thing that always baffles me about videos that mention how awful Ride to Hell is is when it's mentioned that there are "fully-clothed" sex scenes. Like, you're not objecting to the sex scene... you're just disappointed that they're fully-clothed? In your view, would it be _better_ if they were full-on X-rated? I would understand the point of mentioning them if, for example, what was being said was "the unnecessary sex scenes which aren't even slightly erotic and are weirdly fully-clothed." But just pointing out that the sex scenes are fully-clothed sounds more like "dang it!' instead of "this was a really weird thing to do", you know?

And when you post something that digital foundrys technical breakdown objectively proves is nonsense, then I have doubts whether you did (although it is a lie whether you did or didn't). It is locked at 30 and at worst drops a frame or two at the most extreme moments for a second - very rarely. Resolution is great as well. Art design is just complaining because it is a little different, has nothing to do with the game being good or bad.

Sonic Boom looks like a reskin of a cancelled Jak & Daxter sequel. Not entirely terrible for what it is, but if you're expecting to go fast and rely on quick reflexes and platforming to find secrets, and instead end up punching waves of enemies with light platforming elements, then you haven't made a Sonic game.

WC3 reforged took away multiplayer ranked ladders, fundamentally changed the EULA on their custom map maker allowing blizzard ownership (can't have another DOTA), and introduced additional instability for of all things LAN tournaments. It's really hard to find anyone who is all that happy with reforged. I legit think it only sold because it came with WoW vanity items. But who wouldn't want to roll around on a meat wagon?

Exactly right, the formula/theme has always been the same. It's not like they're radically gonna change the formula, just like chips. Potatoes is the base fundamental just as the top down gameplay is to the Bomberman series.

Speaking of the original Alone in the Dark, try going back and playing it today. It's controls are crooked as all fuck and the puzzles are completely obtuse in every way, such as basically being "you need this item from ages ago at this random point or something will just kill you", but for some reason, it's still... Somehow good in a way that's almost impossible to describe. 2 and 3 are also decent, but just don't have that same odd charm.

Ride To Hell should've been an at least adequate title. The main character was supposed to be a Vietnam Vet, that alone could have made for an interesting exploration. It's the potential that kills me, because that time period and that war is not explored enough in games.

Angel Of Darkness was actually pretty decent tbh (if you have the PC version). Same With Aliens Colonial Marines if you use some mods for them. I'd even argue that AoD was better than the all the games from the last trilogy since at least AoD actually FEELS like a TR game, and had good to great level design for the most part.
