@@selohcin unfortunately those improvements don't actually lend well to real time physics. physics calculations can't really utilize multithreading from my understanding, and while frame drops are expected in this kind of game that kind of behavior would be a hard sell to consoles where frame drops are a thing that are avoided at all costs as they focus on creating a smooth experience for players. the most promising thing i've seen in terms of technology that could bring large scale real time physics calculations to mainstream gaming is using ai to create optimized physics calculations that are much easier to run.

Its not surprising, game companies are there to make money. this is not the early days of gaming where game companies were run by people passionate about games anymore. people found what works and stuck with it, afraid of change and not meeting investor expectations. Leaving innovation to indie game devs who take a large bet on their dream game idea.

I hope that within 10 or 15 years we could have a game like teardown but the physics isn't like this, instead, it's like fully-fledged finite element analysis simulations and computation fluid dynamics simulations with strong 2 way coupling in like 4k 120 fps, that would be so fucking awesome

However, Just think about Red Faction: Guerilla. Those buildings crumbled so satisfyingly and realistically.
