To anyone struggling to remove the four screws, I had the same problem. This is how I solved it. 1. Buy jeweller's precision screwdrivers. These should cost around £3 in the UK, and you should ideally have a flat head that's around 1.2mm long as part of the pack screwdriver. Look for a longish screwdriver with a decent grip. 2. Apply WD-40 to each of the screws to help loosen them. Make sure you put tape over the L2 and R2 buttons to protect them, before you spray the screws. You don't want WD-40 inside your controller, just around the screws! 3. Dry the area around the screws after 15-20 minutes. 4. Take the flat head screwdriver and begin scraping around the tiny space between the screw and the hole. You might think there's no space, but you might be surprised by how much dark gunk you can prise free. 5. Gently stick the flat head screw driver under the edge of the screw itself. You're trying to minutely push the screw upward. You're not trying to remove it completely like this! It's just loosening the screw from anything it's stuck to! 6. Try unscrewing the screw with the flat head screwdriver. This worked for me after I thought my screws were stuck. Hope it works for you.

@bonuscard19636 жыл бұрын
I am sorry that this happened to you. As generations of DS4 controllers change so do the parts list. My videos are pretty accurate to version 1-3, however it seems that the hooks that you mention may not be present in the original versions. Again, I hope that you are able to find a solution.
@bonuscard19636 жыл бұрын
After reviewing your comment again, I understand what you mean. The plastic hooks are important to be aware of, but of one of them is broken the screws when screwing the casing back together should prove sufficient to hold the case together. Also another replacement casing should be about $5 if you find that you need a replacement.

@bonuscard19637 жыл бұрын
Paul Games pro. Often L1R1L2R2 problems are due to a misalignment of the rubber conductive pad. There is a small lip behind the L1R1 buttons that must be directed over the inner casing in order for the L1R1L2R2 buttons to function correctly. Opening the controller up and checking this area will also allow you to realign all of the buttons and check that the seating ate correct.

NewKid18 808Gamez I would suggest checking all terminal connections. Usually a charging problem is due to the light pad not turning on so it gives perceived problems, or you may not have plugged the battery back in, or you may have broken the charging port. These are the 3 most likely reasons.

@bonuscard19638 жыл бұрын
Da Kina If the light bar/LED bar is not reacting there are many possibilities. 1. Could be that you have the light bar disabled in the PS4 homepage settings. It actually sounds mechanical because you are noticing a function on the camera is not working. In this case 1. A drop could have caused the light bar ribbon to be pulled out from the light bar PCB board. 2. The PCB board could be broken. In order to troubleshoot these issues, please try to plug the DS4 in to charge and let me know if it lights up/actively charges. Thanks

bonus card no it does not turn on at all plug or unplug.
@bonuscard19638 жыл бұрын
+Da Kina it sounds like you either live in a humid area, or dropped liquid on it causing corrosion or a broken PCB. These can be ordered online for about $5-10. The only other possibility that I think it may be would be a broken or detached LED ribbon cable.
@midshipmino17868 жыл бұрын

Great video. Thanks to this I was able to fix some of the loose buttons, however the rubber film for one of the four face buttons is torn (I switched it from X to triangle since I use X more often). Do you have any idea how to fix it, or will I have to replace it?
@bonuscard19638 жыл бұрын
Anton That is a perfect solution, I would recommend this solution to everybody if you do not have the spare parts but are looking for a quick fix. The only danger I would foresee is the possibility of ripping through the rubber pad into the circuit board film pad under the button that is now being contacted by the faulty rubber pad. Just remember to take it easy on that button and everything should stay protected. Again, thanks for watching and your contribution of your solution.

@bonuscard19632 жыл бұрын
There are many plastic hinges/tabs that help hold the sides of the controller case in place. I suspect one of these have snapped off and is shaking around in the controller. With this being said, you must take care when opening the case so that you avoid damaging these tabs. If you can avoid damaging tabs and electrical wires and connections you can definitely open the controller up and remove the stray piece of refuse.

@bonuscard19638 жыл бұрын
it sounds like you are having an L2 issue. this probably has to do with the L2 button being broken, or due to the conductive rubber pad underneath being misaligned or torn. I would first Check for misalignment, remember the L2 rubber conductive film pad must be pulled over the plastic alignment tab/lip on the inner casing. also remember to insert the rubber conductive pad so that it is completely touching the inner casing. If the problem persists it might be because there is a broken part inside or the rubber conductive pad is ripped or torn. I wish you the best of luck. Thanks for watching!

@bonuscard19638 жыл бұрын
Hi Nick I have fixed this problem before by desoldering the thumbstick and then replacing with a new thumbstick. This is a very difficult process and unless approached with extreme care is about a 90% failure rate in repairing. I would recommend just buying a used controller with body damage or an LED problem and switching out the boards and thumbsticks, or open up your controller and use an airgun or keyboard compressed air cleaner to blow any refuse out from between the thumbstick and the main motherboard. If you are really set on replacing the thumbstick (if you already have new thumbsticks), let me know and i can try to put together a tutorial. Again, it is very difficult, so approach with care. Thanks for watching!

I have no clue how I even managed this, but I was wondering if you knew what could have caused it.

Hi Andrew, It sounds like you may have pinched the L1R1 buttons when closing the case, this is a common problem. Open the case again and the starting from the top gently bring the top case around the L1R1 buttons and then bring the cases together in a clamshell style

Mohammed Fahad Thanks for asking Mohammed. please take a look at my other videos, one of them is cleaning and proper maintenance, it will give a list of the cleaning solutions that I use. Mostly rubbing alcohol, nail polish remover or acetone and regular water. Make sure to always dilute any solution with water in order to protect plastics from melting or eroding, but rubbing alcohol should be fine. I hope you find what you are looking for on my other videos! Thanks again!

If you take out those ribbons, on both the back and on the motherboard, can you put those back in?
@bonuscard19637 жыл бұрын
Balorkio there are many ribbons that are on the motherboard and in the controller. Most of them can be taken out safely, by opening a tab or removing gently with tweezers or a clean finger, but they all have metal contacts that are easily stripped, be careful
@clipdump156187 жыл бұрын
Do you have any advice if my options button is "stuck"? The physical button works normally and isn't stuck or sticky, but it seems to constantly give the motherboard a signal of being pressed.
@bonuscard19637 жыл бұрын
Balorkio each button on the DS4 has a rubber pad that it gives pressure to, this rubber pad contacts the film pad circuit board. I would imagine the film pad circuit board or the options button rubber pad needs to be cleaned in order to address your problem
@clipdump156187 жыл бұрын
I've completely took it apart and on the inside everything is as it should be, could it be the motherboard itself? I also wonder if it would be possible to rerout the options button to the share button, as I never use that.

Can u do a tutorial to help my non charging controller
@Steve24_711 ай бұрын
All of a sudden while playing War Thunder my Right joystick has started drifting left. Can taking it apart help somehow? I've already tried pressing the little reset button on the bottom. It's still drifting left. Any way to fix this or is the controller ruined?
@bonuscard196311 ай бұрын
There is a small chance that taking it apart could help. If something has gotten into the controller and caused it to be off axis then cleaning may help, but this is most probably because of intense play. Sometimes if we forcefully move the stick too far it will become unseated from its place on the motherboard, this will cause a drift due to incorrect connection.
@Steve24_711 ай бұрын
@@bonuscard1963 thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, I've taken it apart, put it back together, and now not only does it still have the drift problem, but it's worse and now there's a bug with the screenshot button. Upon turning on the controller (twice in a row) it started taking around 8 screenshots on its own and then after I pressed the screenshot button to get it to stop, it did stop but then would not allow me to press the screenshot button myself and take a screenshot. I made sure I reconnected everything correctly. I'm not sure what's going on with this controller but it may have just gone bad. It's unfortunate because although I have another one, the other one feels a lot looser and not as crisp and "new" feeling. Specifically the "right" joystick, which is the problem now on this controller too. I wonder if there's a history of the "right side" joystick going bad? Well thank you for the video and your reply as well.

@Steve-ow7sd yeah, the stick problem is very difficult (and costly) to do, so I would say stick replacement is not what you want to do. I would definitely go with the other one for the time being. Thank you again for viewing!

@bonuscard19638 жыл бұрын
Hi Big Mac The problem might be as simple as a stuck button, or as complicated as the circuit board film pad being torn. The only way to know for sure is to test each part. I recommend watching my other videos that give more detailed information on how to clean, maintain and troubleshoot the problems. I also answer a lot of my viewers questions like yours. Did this as my options button wasn't working. Now that works fine but the L2 now sticks down and is on constant or doesn't work at all. PlayStation 4s are so badly made. Had one that had the disk eject issue so bought another one and had 3 controllers randomly break on their own

Does DS4 teardown cancel its warranty? Mine is dirty as hell, i'll be very sweaty when gaming session gets intense.
@bonuscard19637 жыл бұрын
Sampah Item 1 I would not try to repair anything if I was worried about voiding a warranty. The reason companies give a warranty is so that the company can provide repairs. If you open the DS4 you will void ps4s warranty.
@blizaacks7 жыл бұрын
bonus card Does the warranty only provide repairs? I mean cleaning warranted products is not part of the warranty? As all i know if your products are clean, they're healthy, we're talking about PS4 and its peripherals here, specifically.
@bonuscard19637 жыл бұрын
Sampah Item 1 As the saying goes, if it ain't broke don't fix it. If you do want to internally clean your DS4 there are possibilities of breaking one of the very sensitive internal components. This will also be viewed by PS as a way that you could break the controller yourself which is not covered under warranty. Warranty only covers malfunctions of the factory built controller, opening the controller will void this. Sorry, but I would recommend only cleaning the controller externally until the warranty is no longer an issue.

I have used two methods, both of which are very destructive. The first involves breaking the entire back cover off. The second involves cutting a hole around the screwhole in question. Either way you will want to buy a new back cover when reassembling.

Hi there. Thanks for this video. I have been studying it and did disasembling of my ps4 controller. My Dpad, the up left and right, is not responding. Only the down is responding normally Strangely tho, I did the cleaning in the inside, reassemble it, and now all the arrows are not responding :D . Any tips man? I havent cleaned into the green paper chip thingy. I did the white rubber and the button itself. Usings lots of alcohol
@bonuscard19636 жыл бұрын
Arvizu Brown if none of the dpad buttons are working after disassembly I would think that part of the circuit board film pad was misplaced or not plugged in properly when reassembling. I would recommend disassembly again and then study each part of the circuit board film pad and any neighboring connections to make sure they are connected

It’s allot easier than working on that damn Xbox One controller which is so hard to work on the warranty people don't even bother fixing it & end up sending a new one. Wanted to disable the light bar on mine by pulling the ribbon cable out which is the only way now since after a few updates that no longer have an off setting for the light bar to help save on battery life because as good as the PS4 controller is the battery life is shit compared to the PS3 controller which lasted a few days before needing a charge.

It sounds like you have used the wrong charging cord or the wrong type of standalone charger, often if using a cell phone charger you will get a bad charge or no charge at all. You should either use ds4 chargers or make sure to use your original charging cord, you may have to change out the battery and get a new charger. This is the main problem, don't use the wrong charging cord.

Ok, I can't for the life of me figure out how the hell to pop this thing open once I've undone the screws. It's held together so unbelievably tight you'd think it was welded shut or something. I'm afraid to apply too much force because it feels like I'd need to break the thing apart in order for the back to pop off... All I wanted to do was replace the damn faceplate, but apparently I got more than I bargained for. Any tips on how to get the back off without just straight up annihilating the whole thing?

I can't seem to get them out either my screw drivers have is to small
@bonuscard19638 жыл бұрын
I was thinking about this problem that you are having and I believe you might have a newer model of Controller. If this is the problem, it is still possible to open the Controller, it is just much tighter because Sony has kept the casing closed by attaching one of the circuit board film pads. This takes a small pair of needle nosed tweezers and a very steady hand in order to take the circuit board film pad for the touch pad out of the connector (and replace it) when putting everything back together. Due to the construction of the newer Controller model, there are many similarities in components, but the circuit board film pad is completely different. Please feel free to ask if there are any follow up questions. Thanks for watching!

I think you mean that the head I'd stripped off. They make a few kits for removing stripped screws, but that might be more expensive than buying a new controller. If you are really dedicated you can try to spin the entire back of the controller off, but in my experience this is probably too troublesome.
