The round wire lock for the wrist pin wasn't installed properly and it slid out the side. Seen it happen in 2 or 3 engines in my career

I was going to say the same, and once the pin slides all the way one way it breaks the piston…. Chaos after that, if the spiral lock was in the pan that would give some indication….

Came here to say the same thing and the reason the egg drops is because cylinder pressure is lower due to increased blow by. The fact that one side of the pin bore on the piston is gone is a tell tale.

The circlip looks to be in the belly pan which also points towards this theory…

Definitely something on the piston failed. Imo a clip or pin came loose causing eveything to bind. 2 cents😂

I have dart block bored to 4.125 from a blow up, got the bottom of one of the sleeves, I had the machine shop measure it and they said if you build a 3.62 stroke motor it would be fine, I would sell the block for $300

Hey bro test your injectors on that cylinder, see if they are stuck open! If they are open you can dump some fuel in the rails and itll just pour out any that are stuvk open or seeping.. That would explain the hydrolock, and egt on that cylinder dropping

definitely get the crank magnafluxed. They crack in the crank journal fillet with a hit like that. Prob got a lil bend to it too

Grab you some grp or mgp aluminum rods for your next engine I’ve got 150 passes on mine from tkm before I changed them out.

Look at the crank see it theirs a witness mark of the piston hitting the crank and exploding . I’d say rod bent crash the piston into the crank before snapping the rod

If they are diamond pistons i bet it pulled the pin out of it I bet I had it do it to 3 on a brand new engine of mine on the 4th dyno pull I have pics of pistons that look the same as yours

That 302-3 Holley pan under the same part number, in the same white box is just over $100 on eBay. I was hollering at the screen when you were prying under the heads, but you are the master and didn’t seem to hurt anything. Are you worried about the injectors being stuck from sitting?

SM HAD A PROBLEM WITH THAT DESIGN OF PISTON IN HIS SML THERES NOT ENOUGH MEAT WHERE THE PIN IS AND IT BENT THE PIN NOT SURE IF THIS HAS ANYTHING TO DO WITH THE PROBLEMS YOUR HAVING BUT YOU SHOULD HEAR WHAT STEVE SAYS IN HIS VIDEO ABOUT IT HOPE IT HELPS

Man I just went threw same thing almost dart ls next hydrolocked on cylinder 4 n exploded a boostline rod took out block n bent valves but my mantoon pushrods didn't bend Definitely sucks brother

You can tig weld that pan rail back together. I have a couple videos on my channel showing the damage to an iron Lsx block I fixed last winter. Been running the block all last season with no issues. Repair still looks mint

No ls steel rods handle 2k plus hp . Not Callie’s ultra billet not Carrillo and not boost line . Maybe Because of the size of rod 1800 seems about safe limit for steel at 2k it’s just a matter of time

You cant hydroloock a engine that is runing. You blow a rod then the rodd smash the block and piston go down and smash on the crank and counterweiths I would never run that crank again whitout magnaflux if and check for cracks

You absolutely can hydrolock a running engine. If you drive your car in deep water and suck too much water in the intake, then you hydrolocked it while it was running. Also race engines, and diesels often run a very tight quench, so if any liquid enters the cylinder while running it is possible to hydrolock it.

i saw a hole in a mack truck block you could put your foot in with your work boots on! a 237 hp six banger diesel engine i think it blew a drive tire & oil coming out the front on the road way & the light was red! ( there major error) the boss said it tractor time & get the old scrap truck he just got from rejected sale's made a offer he bought like 4 trucks in a lot one was scrap with a newly overhauled engine in it! & the dealer painted 3 of the trucks & take this junky thing with you too on a wrecker hook too! pull out the scraped engine & drop in the newer rebuilt engine all trucks were leaving & the guys left 2 trucks left & one we were finishing engine change on then it got hot a fire & the trucks need repainted in the building the fire men hooked onto like 3 trucks & out the doors then went put fires out & the building fire too! you best fix the trucks before you get to be fly boy in the air force! pk it odd it like 44 years later my only closest relation when i was in i got hurt I had no idea of the true injury and my step father brother ps in my sealed adoption the 3 man he got me paid for mostly the rest of my life ( ok barring were not in ww3 & USA falls apart & russkies invade our worst night mare when i was in really) this guy my relation the nurse said yes ok i was just in med training i flunked the answer was i said uncles real name oh no(the nurse dropped everything and ran for the doctor realy) , that the answer to guy lived threw 100% death rate cancer the guy that lived threw it really! & the control on his blood really! that what i had all the time hidden like 2017 & court for va comp to 2019 they told me really! by DNA we got problem! really! i was really sick the whole time really!
