Fully confident in you and Wyatt keeping logs and maintenance up on the billet block. The MR2 didn't want that last run in the log books and just told you she's ready for that billet !!

Yea I hope this is the step up that the channel needs to be a proven racing channel. They should still have some fun street cars to take to taco and mess with mustangs on highways but 1 car in the fleet needs to be a fully dedicated race car and trim including a team who can keep on top of things. I think 1 or 2 more employees to help with pit lane side of things won't hurt so Kyle can solely focus on keeping that mr2 going straight. Once they go billet and push more power that mr2 will be super sketchy if they are not careful
@fd3s93
@fd3s93 Жыл бұрын
@@adamstilldrivest's gonna get WAY sketchier with a bullet powerhouse. The big part making it sketchy is how light the front is. If they had more fab experience and were wanting to take on a huge task, I would build a trans tunnel and some sort of front subframe/k member and put the engine up front with a tranny going to the rear, but put the engine right behind or just center of the front wheel center line. That way the weight will be over the front wheels keeping the wheels on the ground when it's going 180+ and making things less sketchy.
@reidonz5848

@@fd3s93 no point. Theyre using an mr2 because of the rear engine layout, because it hadnt really be done to this extent. May as well just use the tube frame civic.

Billet block is the best path for you guys, no doubt. I feel like if you're hooking up on the leave, only limitation will be how much boost your turbo kit can make on the big end for chasing down 6 second 200mph+ passes 🤣

It's really about how much boost he can make at the line and the short track.. If he fixed that part he'd easily be in the high 6's I think. He's dropping the mr2 at 9000 rpm to build boost already..not much left to go up in this build setup.

Last thing we need is Kyle slipping the ball because he wrenched all day in BB fashion to then forget something and makes an error which cost him money or worst his health and life. I really hope the best for them

I still think it's possible fuel is getting into the oil on long distance trips causing premature wear even though that really had nothing to do with this failure. Also very much agree swapping the bearings and rods at regular intervals seems to be the best solution at preventing this. My recommendation: -use the billet block -purchase a billet head -use a fully copper head gasket (GTR guys do this & it works great) -use upgraded thick ARP brand headstuds for higher boost pressure, (it will prevent your head from lifting) -use a upgraded mechanical fuelpump (not electric) -replace your oil before every single race day session, don't reuse the oil (after racing have your oil sent to a lab to be tested for wear) -use race fuel only, no E85 -empty your entire fuel cell after each race session (don't let leftover fuel stay in the tank) -always check your fuel injectors before each race to see if they are clogged -lower your max RPM to 9k, you guys are over revving the engine & killing these engines on purpose -replace your sparkplugs before every race & make sure to check the gap -check to see if each sparkplug is giving full spark before each race -check engine compression before each race -upgrade to a new Garret turbo, since their turbos are proven to be more efficient at lower RPM's -check the condition of the track first before racing, when you do your large burnout make sure your tires stay in the lane

Dont rush anything, just work fast if needed and the same routine every time. Keep track of whats done and exactly when! Preferably write it down in a note book, not just logging rounds in the pc. Temperature of track, air, humidity, tire pressure, suspension settings, weight f/r and cornerweight, all settings of the engine, the lot! And above all things, dont ever forget to top up with fuel. What i would do: #1-Billet block. #2-Steel or Titanium con-rods because steel is stronger and dont have the "wear" of heat cycle like aluminum ones and they are not that much havier so u can still rev them to 10k if u need to. Titanium would be better but its like 1000$ per rod. #3-Stick shift would be nice BUT be sure to get gear lock outs so that u cant hit 1st or 3rd when you change gears. I remember a couple years ago, there was this honda racing youtube boy. He sometimes missed 3rd... Wouldnt like to be that guy with an billet block😂. Keep pushing Kyle! I'm here since ~1k subs😊

I'm convinced this was rod stretch, yall should measure the length of the rods and check them vs the spec, knowing when the stretch is getting too bad will save you alot of money in the long term, this failure could and will still happen in the billet block so it's best to get a lock on when the rods have had enough so you can preemptively change them out

Those aluminum rods stretch under high power and actually absorb some of the shock, that's why they can take so much power for a short period of time. Guys that are running really high power per cylinder check or change the rods after 30-40 passes to prevent these kind of failures from happening.

@boostedboiz Kyle, maybe think about having rods shot-peened. I work for a major US commercial aviation manufacturer. Can’t say the name but rhymes with whoring… lol but my job is specifically shotpeening. Used heavily in aviation to induce exterior stress, prevents cracks and extends life cycle over 10x before replacement . I’m sure you could find a aviation shop that could shoot them at .006A intensity at 200% coverage then have bearing/mating surfaces and wrist pins machined or masked prior to shot-peen. Good luck!

Billet block with the H pattern for more racing, you still have the NSX with the sequential and you needa race that thing more too! Or even do like cleetus does and run both your MR2 and the NSX at events and have Wyatt run the roudessey and run his truck so you’ve got almost the whole fleet out there. Might be time for a stacker trailer! You didn’t buy a 450 for nothing! 💪🏻

Build the cast iron block, as a backup. Don't cut corners, make it a good backup. And of course use that pretty aluminum billet for your primary engine. Missing out on events when you have issues can't be fun. Wouldn't you rather have one good year where you actually get to compete, instead of always saying "we could have had him" because you scattered metal all over the burn box...

Billet block is the “cheaper” option in the long run you know you will always want to go faster so it’s just makes sense 🏁👍🏻💪🏻

Maybe it’s time for a whole new setup for low 7s and faster? Setting up the tube chassis civic with a billet block k swap would be a good solution.

An argument for the billet block is that you could have had some small deformations in the stock block under load. Those deformations could have caused excess drag on the pistons which would put extra load on the rods.

Kyle do what makes you happy.. can you could always later down the track put a cast engine back in if you wanted too.. looking at where the car is, and the fact you have that block, to keep moving forward with that car i think it time to go with the stronger block❤ but again you do you brother
