One of my favorite songs of all time; what a masterpiece.

I was fortunate enough to have seen TFF tour supporting this album with Oleta Adams with them. It was unbelievably great!. One of my live concert memories of a lifetime....Oleta was literally put up on a pedestal with her grand piano & she wore the most beautiful African robe & grand hat ever. Magnificent!!
@rnw27392 жыл бұрын
African robe? That was her favourite multicoloured dressing gown which she purchased from Macy's in New York years previously. She was nervous on that tour and decided to wear it onstage as she considered it lucky. African robe indeed!!! haha!

Just saw Tears for Fears in concert recently and this song sounded amazing live! Love Tears for Fears! So talented and so many great songs! This is a great album ("Sowing the Seeds of Love", "Woman in Chain", "Advice for the Young at Heart") and their new album "The Tipping Point' is really good too!

Awesome album by TFF. Please do listen to the entire album. It is one of TFF's best. My favorite TFF song is on this album, though hardly anyone else recognizes it when I mention the title: "Famous Last Words".

I agree with your comments regarding Tears For Fears, they are one of my very favorite bands. This entire album is superb as is the other song with Oleta Adams, Women In Chains. I also absolutely love their album Elemental. The title cut, Elemental, as well as Break It Down Again are stunners but Goodnight Song is my favorite from that album. And then there's Raoul And The Kings of Spain. Whoa, so lush, such a jaw dropping album. Again, wonderful title cut as well as Secrets and God's Mistake. I'd definitely have to put Tears For Fears in my top 10 of all time bands. They are magnificent.

Great review, I loved it. I remember when this album was released, a lot of the critics slated it, especially this track. In my opinion, this is the greatest album of all time. Badman's Song takes the listener to church, it is second behind Sowing The Seeds as the albums stand out track, no other 80's band could have pulled this off. Side one of the album, Woman In Chains through to the glorious Advice For The Young At Heart with probably my favourite lyric of all time, "soon we will be older, when we gonna make it work" is as good as it gets, there isn't a better side one anywhere in music. Side two while it isn't as good, it's great in its own right, and the final track Famous Last Words is an awesome song with the incredible line, "we will carry war, no more" This band is the best band that came out of the eighties, and they are my favourite band of all time. If you haven't heard the new album yet, go treat your ears, The Tipping Point is up there with their best work. Keep up the good work, Rivers Of Mercy next please.

Great to watch you digging this. You're right a lot of people and critics in particular, did say this album and indeed this particular song was self-indulgent and that this song was about 5 or 6 minutes longer than it needed to be. But I disagree with that, coupled with Oleta TFF had really hit their stride musically and found another sweet spot in their career... so why not be a bit self-indulgent... if you've got it... then flaunt it right? And it would be boring if all songs were only 3, 4 or 5 minutes long. I would have loved to have been in the studio as this song was being put together and produced. It sort of feels like it was born from several very long jam sessions or several different pieces from other potential songs were borrowed to make this song, as it sort of feels like several song ideas in one. Love it.
