These are always awesome. Have you ever considered just getting a single B-Flat horn or a descant instead of the King Eroica? I don't know if you ever go low enough long enough to need the F side, and you seem to just use the B horn. Something like a Yamaha YHR-321 would work great.
@Finetales2 ай бұрын
@zachk6932 Funny you mention that, I did actually recently acquire a YHR-321! Lovely little horn. I also have a 1947 Conn 6D. But I choose which horns to use based on sound rather than range, and the big sound of the Eroica is what I wanted for this arrangement. Also, I used the F side plenty here. The 6th and 8th horns have a low written Bb2, and I used the F side plenty for parts below written Ab4. Sure Ab4 and above is all Bb side, but what horn player doesn't do that? I would love to get a double descant, but I can't justify it.
@zachk69322 ай бұрын
@@Finetales I can see that. The King is going to differentiate itself from the Mellos more than the Yamaha would. And until you play some baroque or Haydn, that descant isn't going to do you much good. Unless you play an arrangement of "For No One". But they cost a pretty penny for limited use. Exceptional performance and production quality!

god, that kanstul sounds great. is the kelly piece fairly deep? really wide sound. opposite of the "just pop a 3c in it" we learned in high school do you plan on using any tubas? with how good you sound on bass trombone i wouldnt surprise to see you pull a fat as hell sound from them on these tracks edit: the arrangement is great. i was not ready for the final world ruling attack at all
@Finetales3 ай бұрын
@@davemcleed2491 That Kelly is a British tenor horn mouthpiece, pretty deep. As for tubas, I don't currently own one. Used to, but I sold it years ago. Took up too much space for the place I had back then!
