Tears for Fears are so criminally underrated that it's tragic. There are loads of crappy 80s bands who still get recognition, but a high quality band like Tears for Fears is still quiet obscure. Roland can sing with such passion and emotion, it's unbelievable. Heck, Tears for Fears even released a couple of stellar albums in the 90s, "Elemental" (1993) and "Raul and the King's of Spain," (1995) which hardly anyone is aware of.
@MichaelMartinez-mr3uy5 жыл бұрын
They were never obscure. Several of their songs are well know even to the younger generation today. I think what you mean to say is that many of their *best* songs are lesser-known than their hits were.
@tiduzffx5 жыл бұрын
Have you ever listened to their first album, The Hurting? Omg I wish I had that in my teenage years.
@MichaelMartinez-mr3uy5 жыл бұрын
@@tiduzffx I've got all, or most, of their albums. The Hurting is good overall. To be honest many of their songs are hit-and-miss for me. The ones that I like are really fantastic and I put them up their with my favorite songs of all time. But there's also a bunch that I'm not real fond of ... I feel Simple Minds was more consistently excellent.
@ViceStudios024 жыл бұрын
Roland also released his own album in 2001
@pvtrichter884 жыл бұрын
@Micheal Martinez NOT too certain what tenchi586 meant !? but although I'm late I do want to chime in and say they definitely weren't obscure in the mid to late 80's and in fact I do believe they were voted as one of the top British Bands of the 80's their songs have appeared on film soundtracks and many of their hits have been covered by a younger generation of artists including Gary Jules and Lorde PHEEWWW long share but hope you enjoy the evening!

"FIND OUT, FIND OUT, WHAT THIS FEAR IS ABOUT!.." Big, beautiful, cry from the heart of a song, comparable to Bohemian Rhapsody or Baker Street. I don't even know if it was released as a single in the UK? Just adore it at the moment. I was basically born a decade too late for these guys! I was only about 10 when it was written, and am now in the midst of my own private odyssey in to T.F.F. and their considerable body of work...a mere 35 years on! Thoroughly enjoying the process, though. Makes me wonder how many generations to come will discover and fall in love with them. God bless 'em.

salvadormarley, Tears for Fears is actually still popular among many teens. Most that have heard of the band only recognize like one song though, usually Everybody Wants to Rule the World. It’s not something you’ll hear if you tune into the local radio because this song is over 30 years old. Time continues to fly by, and that means that things change. I don’t understand why everyone makes a big deal about the new generation’s taste in music. I’m not much of a fan of the music today, but I’m not going to go up to someone and say, “That’s not my taste in music, which makes you stupid for listening to that.” I’m pretty sure that many people that grew up in the 1940s didn’t say, “Wow, this 80s new wave sounds really great!” They most likely thought it sounded bad because it was different. The music industry isn’t, nor hasn’t, been stuck in one decade for a multiple decades.

Without doubt, one of THE best bands of the 80's. This is by far my favourite tff track, so atmospheric, that screaming sax, fantastic drumming & Rolands voice, just mesmerising!. When I hear the song start up it reminds me of the sun coming up on a perfect day, with everyone just about to start their daily routine. The 80's were the best time ever for music, so much talent, creativity and personalities. Music said so much back then. Sure there's talent around today, but it's forgotten a year or two later.
