Wolfos could be very easily explained away in the breath of the wild universe. They could just be regular wolves that have been infested by malice as it becomes wider spread throughout the kingdom, and twisted into a mockery of a humanoid. In fact, lots of the more animal based prior enemies could be explained if they wanted to add a line of enemies in this fashion, including kargarocs, ropes or even vire (a swarm of keese that has been fused together). Each zelda game does offer a different take on the respective enemies, after all.

It goes a round or two, then goma is no longer a fearsome or difficult opponent when it suddenly panics Its single eye widely scanning the room, before it tries to flee; nearly trampling link who barely dives out of the way. As link begins to rise, suddenly a giant Skultulla crashes through the ceiling and pouncing on the helpless goma like a leapord in a lamb. Link watches in quiet horror as the goma struggles helplessly before it is savagely bisected by the massive arachni-form creature. Link rises quietly to flee, but as if by premonition it turns upon him with unreasonable quickness - he lets loose an Ancient arrow, blinded for a moment by the light in the dark cave... When his vision returns the skull-shaped carapace lies smoking on the ground for a moment, an uneasy sound and it quivers... ...all 8 legs slowly creep from under the impenetrable shell as it rises with the Skultula quiver and swings back and forth menacingly on its massive legs... ...Boss Text fades in "...Skultulla... one of the things i feel breath of the wild lacked the most was actually water enemies and combat. almost every game prior had some form of water enemies that you had to fight in their own territory, be it in the water, or just outside. but the only ones in breath of the wild are found on land aswell. as much as people say that water dungeons and regions are unfun, i think theyre especially cool, and i feel they could be a great thing to explore, just as are caves. just imagine swimming into an underwater cave, only to find a group of ancient, aggresive zora, guarding treasure you could never find above the surface. its such an underexplored idea that felt especially left out in botw. i think caves are mostly the same, the caves in the zelda series are usually restricted to dungeons, or some goron mine. they could be such scary areas filled with creatures who dont act on sight. highly claustrophobic caves filled with hard to traverse, winding paths, where combat is tough and too large a weapon will get stuck on the cave walls. In such a situation stabbing with small blades is the only option when encountering an enemy. i can just feel the pressure of a tiny cave route, when suddenly it leads into the abandoned nest of some massive ground creature.

“River” Zora aren’t inheritantly evil, though. There’s often neutral or friendly NPC versions (much like many, many “monster” enemies in Zelda), but the River Zora in particular even have their own sage in LBW It’s far more likely that they’re so hostile Because the Sea Zora drove them out (probably with the assistance of hylians), so they Fire Blast Now, Ask Questions Later Think about it-OoT/MM, WW, and TP zora are portrayed closer to sea fish instead of the more catfish-looking OG River Zora. In MM they flatout DO live in the Sea, same as the Sea Zora in Oracle of Ages (where both tribes exist and make this distinction.) And once JabuJabu Dies, Zora’s Domain freezes over in OoT…and JabuJabu is a WHALE that’s being kept in a very, very small cavern that it’s long outgrown. So if the River Zora return? Leas of a “they’re Evil Ganon Worshipers!” and more flatout territorial war with lore dropped for the player to piece together the Sea and River Zoras’ complicated history (which is painfully similar to the traditional conflicts between the Hylians and Gerudo ever since the Hylians shoved the Gerudo out into the desert following a civil war…and often “finishing the job” generations later, especially if the Gerudo retaliate. Or the divide between Sheikah and Yiga after being forced to abandon their heritage and culture after being subjegated into being the Hylian Kings’ attack dogs for much of their history.) Enemies with depth. Enemies that are incredibly *complicated* (and NOT inherently “evil.” Themes of questioning morality and everything Zelda and Link thought they knew as an Ancient Conflict stirs underground-literally.)

Something to also consider is that the guardians in breath of the wild were conceived through the original intention of the Octarock enemies in the original legend of Zelda So The idea of the re-dead being designed using ancient Sheka technology really works with that in mind.
@NuiYabuko2 жыл бұрын
Original intention? Aonuma just said that when he played the first Zelda he thought the Octorocks were giant, that's it.
@Nazo-kage2 жыл бұрын
@@NuiYabuko yes but they were also used as the original inspiration for the guardians. In fact some of the concept art for the original idea for a guardian have them be more organic then technology, And they were freaky looking.

Such an epic concept and I LOVE your art for them! The ReDead I think is the one I’m hoping for the most, the lore behind it is perfect and the design is eerie but not disturbingly ugly, which either type of design would work but yours is so interesting and different that I hope it comes true!

While I'm imagining that they'll have Ganondorf return to hils full human form by the end of BoTW2 another idea I would love to see is a Redead Ganondorf, a sort of eldritch lich sorcerer that's not only fueled by Malice, but can control it and contort it into vile spells
@theoaremevano32272 жыл бұрын
That could be Phantom Ganon too.
@theoaremevano32272 жыл бұрын
@Wiley Midura : Actually, that seems more like Puppet Ganon, since that one was Ganon while Phantom is always a Ganondorf clone/shadow.

Anyone else here rewatching the video after the release of TotK and finding just how many opportunities were missed by Nintendo by not adding enemies like these? Tell me how sick it would be if poes didn't just randomly float around the depths, but had to be gained by entering crypts inside the depths, too dark and too deep down for lightroots to illuminate them, and clearing them of the endless swarming redeads within them so the bargainer statues can shepherd their souls over to the great beyond. I think poes are too easily accessible anyway, that would have been a way to make getting them feel more rewarding, give more significance to the bargainers in terms of their purpose, and add more depth (no pun intended, even I'm at least above this low level of comedy) to the underworld of Hyrule. Actually here, I have a whole concept on darknuts and how to implement them in TotK, stop reading now if you don't like endless ramblings about what could have been: In the overworld, place ancient hylian ruins, previously buried, their entrances unearthed by the upheaval, which served the creation and training of darknuts, and make crucible arenas out of them. You will have the average darknut ranks of red, blue, black and silver and subtypes using either a halberd, a sword and shield, or a warhammer (all of these being within a unique darknut weapon tree, of course, darknut initiate weapons for red, darknut warrior for blue, darknut champion for black and darknut overlord for silver. If we ever get gold enemies again, make another darknut weapon tree called darknut archon for them). As always, while in armor, they're immune to attacks unless you use blunt weapons from the front or sharp weapons from the back, as well as all elemental damage except shock, but taking enough of the right damage to the right places drops their armor, first their chest, then their gauntlets and greaves, and finally their helmet. Without a chest, they lose their immunity to other damage types, but also their vulnerability to shock. Without gauntlets and greaves, their moveset changes to become faster and more aggressive. And without a helmet, they gain the ability to counter Link's parry, using the momentum of bouncing off his shield to redirect their strike to catch Link from the side of the opening the parry has created. They also learn to parry Link's flurry rush, still allowing him to perfectly dodge their attacks without punishment, but immediately striking back and cancelling the attempt if the player decides to flurry rush after the perfect dodge. Only singular strikes executed after a lot of quick maveuvers will even hit them, other attacks will usually just be blocked by them, so they effectively cannot be damaged through any conventional means when their armor falls. Their weakness is the third eye on top of their head. They don't get knocked over from a headshot, and it is very hard to land one in the first place because of how fast they get. But if you do shoot one into their third eye, it will close for a few seconds. This enrages them even further, making their attacks faster and more reckless, but they can't counter your parries and flurry rushes during this time. You can find singular darknuts guarding chests in the depths or wandering abandoned hylian sites, but they are most common in the newly unearthed proving grounds ruins on the surface, one in each region. The overseers of the proving grounds challenge Link to a series of duels. In each of these ruins, Link is stripped of all his equipment, the soldier's armor set is the only armor given to him, and he is given only a small selection of weapons, shields and bows to start with. With this, he fights a number of darknuts of increasing rank and equipment level, one after another. After every duel, he gets ten seconds to gather and fuse any items dropped by his last victory, and is given a choice afterwards: Give up, reset all progress, keep the darknut materials he has picked up so far and be rewarded with a chest containing random rewards based in type and quality on the location and the number of survived rounds, or fight an even bigger and meaner darknut with only what he's left with, without a chance to heal up first, and risk dying and losing all progress without any rewards.

In the depths we kind of got friendly Darknuts lol

There could also be some Overworld Darknuts, how you described them, just roaming. Maybe in all the ruins from past battles? Act sorta like Lynels, how there’s centralized places for them (like the coliseum), but also they can just be encountered.
@gmaster26472 жыл бұрын
I love these ideas! Especially the massive Skulltula idea, it gives added context for why there are giant skulls littered around the world.
@silverthehero12952 жыл бұрын
I’d love for Darknuts to be an over world boss similar to Lynels that act as commanders in Ganon’s army, on foot and on horseback. 6:35 Darken the surroundings even more and you could make a poster of that.

You are so unbelievably talented. Between the art, the descriptions and the imaginative ways of incorporating already existing world assets into these creatures, I have to say, this is one of your most impressive videos. I find it criminal that you aren't a part of the Zelda development team in some capacity.

Two other enemies I would love to see again are gibdos and Dead Hand. The gibdos would fit perfectly along with redeads to expand the creepy enemies and Dead Hand is one of the most fascinating enemies in any game ever. I would love to see them finally return after Ocarina of time with updated and even creepier designs. (And before anyone comments about it, yes there are more than one dead hand. You fight one at the bottom of the well and another in the shadow temple, showing that it isn’t just a single monster)

@commenter5901 Жыл бұрын
@@Supasmartguy I prefer the design for the one we're getting, but it's all just personal preference. They can't please everyone. The ones we're getting look more like actual undead creatures that are partially mummified and the sideways mouth is all kinds of terrifying. They look like they were inspired by Stranger Things. The thing is that you can make hundreds of versions of an enemy and different people will prefer different ones. They likely did many character designs before settling on the one they did. I like the story behind the redeads in this video, but the mask itself looks kinda cartoonish and the redead itself just looks like it's anorexic (as do many of the previous versions).

@@commenter5901 my main complaint with the design we're getting is the sideways mouth, if the redeads are reanimated corpses, they wouldn't have that.

What a fabulous re-imagining of much needed new enemies! Super to watch a BOTW2 video where the creator (ZELTIK) has put in so much additional time with monster designs. I know content is hard to come by due to Nintendo’s lack of info and this video just shows your passion for the series. I’d love to see all your designs come to life, a super video and one that IS different yes, yet VERY welcome.
