This cover is special, even more so because of how it was born. Each singer is a member of the LGBTQ+ community, and this was done as a response to the Pulse nightclub shooting. I see it as their way of saying that love will always rise above hate.

Mario's story with them is really sweet. He was a tour assistant for Pentatonix during On My Way Home tour in 2015. He really enjoyed singing and Mitch started giving him voice lessons. Pentatonix surprised him by arranging for him to be their opening act at one of their shows. There are videos of them watching him from backstage, crying and talking about how amazing he is and how proud they were of him, then hugging him and praising him on his way offstage. They helped get started on his own music career :)

Mario Jose was a singer before Pentatonix existed. He was on "The Sing Off" during season 2, as a member of Berklee's Pitch Slapped. Unfortunately, they were the first group eliminated.

Most of Pentatonix were singers before Pentatonix existed too. It doesn't change that anything that I said. Pentatonix did help him get more exposure and support his work on his own solo singing career.

@@PtxXtp It isn't meant to imply he wasn't already a singer. Singers get lessons sometimes to continue to improve their technique. It's not shown on PTXperience, but in the documentary it shows Mario come offstage and get hugs from several people. When he hugs Mitch, he thanks him for the singing lessons.

Superfruit was a weekly comedy channel by Mitch and Scott for several years as they traveled around with PTX. At times it’s super funny, at times they sing and its incredible. Some of Superfruits music are Empire medley, Beyonce, Frozen Medley, Wicked -defying Gravity. This one , Rise, is serious and a tribute to those who were murdered at the Pulse Club in Florida. All of the singers are proud members of the LGBTQ+ community, this always brings me to tears Superfruit became so popular that they wrote and recorded a Superfruit Album with videos for each song. The Album is Future Friends and each music video is great.

Ohhhh welcome to the wonderful gift that is Superfruit! I’ve heard this song a dozen or more times and it still moves me to tears . This performance was made after the 2016 Pulse shooting. All the vocalists are openly LGBTQ+. Do check out the others besides Scott and Mitch as well! Brian Justin Crum was on AGT and his performance of “Creep” will take your breath away. Mario Jose has a wonderful duet with Scott, a cover of LP’s Lost On You that they put over a Hans Zimmer track from Inception-and I can’t do that justice with words. It has to be experienced.

Love that you checked this out, Brian Justin Crum has major pipes and you'd probably like some of his solo stuff. Scott and Mario do a song called "Lost on You" that will blow your socks off. Everyone in this group are all talented, amazing singers. Most SuperFruit music is not Acapella, they are either medley's covering a certain artist and tend to have a "light piano" track, or they're original songs that have music. This was an amazing cover of Rise!!

Mitch is our ever changing chameleon! Kirstin is in second place for that role! Superfruit is not as family friendly as PTX, it is a R rated and I think that it is just another avenue for self expression for those two just as Messer is another form of expression for Mitch. Superfruit suggestions: Beyonce (they do all the songs from that one self-titled album); Empire Medley (from the t.v. show Empire); Evolution of Lady Gaga; 1989 (Taylor Swift album cover); Feeling Myself (Rihanna); Anti Medley (also Rihanna); Happy Little Pill (Troye Sivan cover); then move on to their original stuff: Guy.exe, Sexy Ladies, and anything off their two albums. Superfruit is far more risque than PTX. Far more. The also do some weird stuff joking around with other artists. Probably their most underrated song is an award winning one where they're not even in the video, but the music is all them: Sweet Life. Mitch and Scott are magic together.

Brian Justin Crum is incredible. I’d recommend starting with his 1st 2 auditions for AGT - Somebody to Love &!Creep. 2 totally different styles but they really show off his power, control & tone. This Rise cover was recorded for the Pulse nightclub so it was extremely meaningful. 💚✌️

Very powerful song. But also very atypical of Superfruit, a channel that Scott and Mitch created to have fun outside of the beautiful PTX cocoon. They do all sorts of things, both with and without instruments - in fact, much of what they do on the channel is vlogging, just joking around about everything under the sun. I'm guessing Scott did the piano track for this. ETA: Superfruit culminated in an incredibly well-received album in 2017. My favorite track from that is GUY.EXE. But their earlier improvised bits, like the Frozen Medley they did with Kirstie, are amazing fun.
