Time for another "#teatuesday-" and this week it's "With A Little Taste of England". My British friend , Carole, from So Carole! ( / @socarole66 ) recently gifted me with some "biscuits" (cookies as we know them). The brand of tea I'm drinking was also gifted from her at Christmas time. So, I'm enjoying a very informal British tea with tea and biscuits from England.

I've been to England a few times but only for a week or 2 at a time. There is so much history and so much to see and learn about in the country. I didn't get this teapot in England; I bought it from an authentic British tearoom (owned by a British couple from Windsor) in central Florida but I highly treasure this teapot because it shows so many highlighted (touristy) areas of London. I would love to travel through Great Britain again in the near future. Have a great week!

Hi Deb, it’s great to hear you and William are well and just doing your maintenance rounds with your doctors. I just asked John to pick up some coconut cookies to have on hand. Was that subliminal messaging since I was watching you at the time? Now, your teapot is gorgeous and your mug is lovely! Of course your background for this video is ideal. I’m disappointed I didn’t see Ginger! Darla has remarkably healed. A lot of people prayed. We were sure scared. I think the prolonged illness aged her a bit. Then our other pup, a rescue that’s obviously terrier developed kidney stones. She had surgery a week ago and has already bounced back. I’m just so glad to have the two of them. The best news I have to share though is John is retiring. May will be his last month. He’ll be 66 this year, and I’ll be 71. I’m having difficulty walking and he’s going to be a big help with my physical therapy. Plus being together is the main thing! We’re having a big family reunion in Colorado in June. I’d like to be stronger, thinner, etc. by then! Haha! Much love to you both, Sharon ❤ xoxo

Hi Sharon! Yes, we've got a few more appointments to go yet before we're done with our routine maintenance! So glad to hear that Darla is doing much better now. I was definitely praying for her! My gosh! Your other dog had kidney stones? Ouch!! Is your husband looking forward to retirement? It took a couple of years post-retirement for me to actually not miss working at an actual job. Nowadays though, I don't know how I managed to work and get so much other stuff done, too. I sure can't do that anymore. Will you be driving to your family reunion? I've got relatives that live around the Greeley area. And, hey, you are beautiful just as you are!! Enjoy your trip and your visit with family!! Love you!!

William finished the cookies ( "biscuits" ) off just last night. They were good! My little garden is already sprouting green beans, radishes AND tomatoes. Of course, they're just baby sprouts BUT I've got some growth!! My little veggie garden this season is strictly being grown in pots on the pool deck. That's where I've had the most success in growing so far. Trying to grow an in-ground garden was a disaster last season. Hope you guys are enjoying your week-end!

You say "biscotti" and I say " cookie"...lololol...she says "biscuit" and I say "cookie again"!! 😁 Oh my gosh, Grace! You sew, you garden, you can, TOO?!?!?!? In the past, I've made jam and I did try canning some potatoes but my canner didn't work properly during the process so I was afraid to eat what I canned. Since then, I haven't tried canning again. I'm interested in baking bread these days -- do you bake bread, too? On Monday morning, I had a very intense physical therapy session and was taught a few more aggressive exercises to do in addition to what I have been doing. I was so sore and tired on Monday after that pt session but this morning it was all good. Enjoy the rest of your week!!

His mom lived about 2 miles from us and she loved to sew. Now, I could put on a button and use the iron-on hemming strips but his mom, if there was something that needed really sewed, she would do the sewing.

I’m sure you’ve said it before, but I must have missed it. Didn’t know you retired from AT&T. Bill worked for AT&T too. Sounds like you’ll have a nice garden. I’m looking forward to planting a larger garden this year now that we have water. I’m sorry your foot is still giving you trouble. Hope the cream is going to take care of it along with the PT. I don’t know why they call them biscuits. Maybe it’s because they aren’t as sweet as our cookies tend to be. They are also crisper I think. Of course, these are both just guesses. 😂. Enjoy your movie.
@DebsWay
@DebsWay Жыл бұрын
Yes, I retired from AT&T with nearly 30 years of service. My "retirement" came during a lay-off period where incentives of adding 5 years to a person's age and service time was given to encourage retirement. That put me in the running and I went for it. What was Bill's job with the company? I worked in the business office and had a few different positions through the years. I started as a telephone operator and I retired when I was a Data Processing Assistant II (a fancy title for something like a computer programmer/operator). Great Benefits and Great Pay!! My British friend has said that maybe you are correct when saying that our cookies are sweeter. Good guess on your part! The movie I watched was called "Contagion" and had many well-known celebrities in the cast. Guess what it was based on? A disease started by a bat that spread world-wide!!! It was filmed in 2011. Boy! Did that movie ever remind me of the pandemic. I have a feeling that you could have a fantastic vegetable garden in NY. You'll just need to keep the wildlife out of it! Have a great week!
@LivingtheSilverLife

Bill was an engineer for line design. He basically drew our where new services were to go so that the people who built the lines knew where they needed to go and what to put in. You are right about the wildlife. I we have deer and chipmunks and all kinds of plant eating animals. Bills been helping me think about the kind of fencing we would need. I may have to get that movie. I think I remember it.

Hi Deb, so lovely to see your whole Dorset set up together with that gorgeous tea pot! We drove through Mount Dora but didn't realise it had a tea shop?! We missed that 😂. I have spent ages trying to search why we called your cookies biscuits and get so many different reasons. 😅. The word cookie came over to your country with the Dutch apparently and the word biscuit actually came from the Latin 'twice baked' ? Anyway, one of your viewers were right, I think yours are much sweeter and I'm still in love with Tates cookies, I had a packet last week on my trip, the butter ones oh yum ❤. Hope you enjoy them anyway. What a collection of seeds to get planted, that should keep you busy this week. Do you have a plot or do you use gro bags? I'd be interested to know. We used to have a plot but it never got the sun so useless😂. Lovely seeing you last Friday, miss you 😊 xx

Hi Carole! I just checked the tearoom's website -- they closed down just a few months ago!! OH NO!! It was such a lovely tearoom serving wonderful, traditional British foods on beautiful China. The couple who owned it are from Windsor, England and they recently retired selling the business to someone who is opening a French Bistro. NOOOOOOooooooo... How disappointing. Tate's cookies are SO good, aren't they? We are addicted to the coconut ones right now. Last Spring, I planted a few veggies in the ground with little success so this year I am going back to planting in pots. My garden is so small that we eat the produce right away! It was so good to see you at the sewing event even if just for a little bit. Wish we could've had a longer visit but wasn't it wonderful to meet up with so many people that we "chat" with all the time. I enjoyed the fitting classes I took at the event and, of course, I had a lot of fun shopping around but I absolutely loved the idea of the meet-up! Too bad it couldn't have lasted longer...ah well... Have you given any thought as to when you might be coming over again???

@@DebsWay oh no that's a shame about the tea room, who wants a French Bistro 🤣. I wish the meet up lasted longer as well but their were so many diversions, we need to get a proper room somewhere! Our next trip to Florida is next March as we are coming over with my daughter and family as it is her 30th and she wants to do Disney. Not sure how much time that is going to leave for me to escape but I'm sure I will! We are going to Canada in Sept this year rather than the US like we have before. That is going to be fun.
