i really like the design language which followed after, the macos aqua era, starting with the g4 macs (the lamp imac, titanium powerbook etc) and which ended with the iphone 4s. they matched the utility and aesthetics just right, providing a mixture of the past, skeuomorphism, with optimism for the future. macos 10.6 strikes that balance perfectly. i really wish they made an icon pack for macos and ios which added those old icons back...

I've never used a titanium powerbook, but I would love to try it :) Also, I agree - these modern flat icons are just not it. I wonder if the old icons will ever come back...

"Clear craze" started in the 80s. Late 90s was the "2nd wave" "clear craze" with a different design direction.
