I LOVE your glasses! Those are so cute were you able to pick those out at basic? One thing I was worried about was how I’m not going to be able to wear my contacts anymore, and having to wear BCGs. 🤣😅 but I did hear they give people a few more options for eyewear now

Thank you! So you can't wear contacts and you don't get to choose your frames, but as soon as I graduated from basic, you're able to wear your own glasses or contacts even while at tech school. It's only temporary so don't worry about it lol. I got my frames at America's Best and just brought them with me

@@yungnessis6988 So, you can bring your own prescription in with you from home. If you do that, they will just do some measurements to make sure they give you a pair of glasses to fit your face. If you don't bring in a prescription, then they will do an eye exam for you before giving you glasses. No problem, hope this helps!

So far it has been good. I think the key for my relationship has been to keep each other updated on what's going on with our schedule, when we can and can't talk, and making sure we make time at the end of the day for a facetime chat. It's understandable to be worried about how it will impact your relationship, but as long as you both are able to communicate openly and be understanding with a new schedule, I'm sure your relationship will still thrive. Make sure that when you're done with tech school, you two make plans on taking days off so you can visit each other (^_^)

How was the process like moving to tech school? I've heard that the first few weeks you're only restricted to stay on base. I am wondering If you are able/ have time to go back to your hometown and grab stuff I would need for tech school like civilian clothes/ laptop etc and possibly bring back my own car.

So unfortunately, you are sent straight from BMT to your tech school location. Each base differs with their set of rules so it all depends on where you're going to be stationed at for tech school. For instance, my tech school did not allow me to leave base until I completed my requirements to phase up. My suggestion would be to have anything you really want/need shipped to you from home. As for the car, it all depends on your MTL's and if they allow it or not. But, you're more than likely going to have to get someone to drive it down to your base. I was lucky enough to be at tech school during EXODUS so if I wanted to drive back in my car, that would have been allowed. Definitely check with your supervisors first before bringing your car to your tech school. Hope this helps!

Heya! So we aren’t able to grab anything from family on graduation day unfortunately. I was lucky enough to be going just 30mins away from Lackland to Fort Sam and it just so happened that one of the MTLs there decided to give us a pass to let family on base for the weekend. Then my boyfriend was able to come on base with the pass and give me my suitcases. He stood in Texas one day after my BMT graduation. If it wasn’t for this, I would’ve had him ship it. If I were you, I’d try to confirm with my MTLs at my tech school if there’s a way you can grab your stuff from them before asking them to ship it to you (if your family/friends decide to stay past your graduation day and your tech school is close by). Hope I explained this well enough for you!

Also remember ... no electronics will be allowed back in the dorm at BMT after graduation, so unless you clear it with your MTI to store it somewhere ... don't bring it ... have it shipped to you

My tech school was about 30mins from BMT so I packed my suitcases before leaving for BMT and I asked my boyfriend if he can bring them to my new base where my tech school was located.

@@jaslyn5501 Going in at a later age for me has been fine physically. Having life experience outside the military helps with professionalism in my opinion (not saying young folks aren’t professional, just saying I have more job experience). There are some days I wish I would’ve came in sooner because I would have been halfway through my career by now but I have no regrets. I knoooowww I need to do an update, just been lazy about it honestly. So much going on I would like to share with you all! Thank you for supporting!! 🫶🏼

@@kittyinc That’s good girl. Right now, it’s kinda boring because I have to phase up to enjoy it better. In regards to the pt appraisal, is it still the air force standards or is it lower since its an appraisal. Where are you stationed also?

@@kebreannalasha I feel that. But you can phase up in as little as 3 weeks. Just make sure you pass your room inspections, attend those airmanship classes, and don't forget to get your teacher and MTL to sign your lil card they give you because you can't phase up without it. When I was at Ft Sam, I always did my uniform inspections at the beginning of the month to get it over with too. The PT standards are still the same that the AF has. You can look them up. But, they offer other exercises such as hand release push ups and reverse cross leg sit ups instead of the normal exercises you did at BMT. I would play around and see what works best for you. I'm stationed in Missouri currently :')

Hello! So after I took the Asvab, I met up with my recruiter who had a list of jobs I qualified for. Each job is rated a color which shows if it has many openings (so it’s easier to get assigned to that job) or if it has not so many (more difficult to get assigned). Each recruiter also gets a list of jobs that they are currently hiring for. It just so happened that my recruiter had an opening for 4N0 and it was my number one job. If it’s something you really wanna do, I would wait until it’s available. There are also other medical jobs you can choose from.

​@@michaelhalko3530 After making my list of which jobs I wanted, I probably waited for about a month before getting the call for which job I received. I was in DEP for a total of about 4 months. I was lucky to not be in for so long, but I do know some people who were in DEP for over a year before receiving the job they wanted. I can definitely do a video to go more in depth about my job. They told my Airman the same thing. She went in Open General with the hope of getting a medical job. Nope. They said there were no medical jobs. She ended up getting an ADMIN job. Somehow Admin and General are together ... UGH. Anyway, she was just happy she didn't get Services. People were getting Medical jobs but not her. Also she wanted to go to UK and they said no openings in UK and one of her dorm mates at BMT got UK. Oh well. She graduated pre-Covid and finished tech school Jan 2020 and of course Covid started around March 2020 when they started housing them at Lackland. ... so ... I guess it was for the best. UK was locked down for a long time.

@@seitz2229 okay yes, those are USB ports for my laptop. So it’s a set of 4 but it only takes up one USB port on your laptop. All 4 of them are connected to one port so you can plug in multiple things. For example, how I mentioned I use it to plug in my mouse and my cac at the same time. I’m pretty sure I bought them from target but I don’t necessarily remember. But I buy a lot of things from target so I would say that’s where they’re from.

There’s no simple answer to this question as you will be placed wherever the military needs your services. Just remember that while in tech school, you have the opportunity to trade orders to possibly end up somewhere you would prefer if someone is willing to do so.
